rebulit my d15b, new rings, rod bearings, etc. and when me and my bud put it all back together, it ran ok but when u drove it, it would backfire like a s.o.b.

could this be timing issues? if so, how do i set timing?

Physical timing is set at the belt. The two dash marks on the cam gear go level with the head and the crank gear has an arrow that lines it up. Ignition timing is done with a light. Jump the scs connector and set it to 16*. Adjust the dizzy accordingly.

a timing light has nothing to do with setting timing on a stock rebuild motor. having decent vision does.
