It starts Saturday in the Southern half of the state and I will be in a tri-pod over looking a food plot, a persimmon tree or 2 and a whole lot of clear cut. :)

With a .270 Savage bolt and scope shooting 160 grain core-lokt(however you spell it)

"If" I find time to hunt I normally go up north to the chattahoochie national forest to hunt deer, black bear, and hog.

I wish I knew somebody a little closer with land because I prefer bow hunting.

Good luck.

I've never hunted North Ga. I hunt middle Ga. Saw 2 does opening morning. Let them walk b-c they were a bit on the small side. They were actually bedded down abt 20 yards from my stand.lol

I got myself a pretty big 5 pointer (6th was broken) early Saturday morning. I also use a Savage 270, but with a Simmons scope and 150 grain cartridges.

Exactly what I use except I'm shooting 130 right now

Nice. It's hard to find 150 grain ammo might now. I have a lot of more expensive rifles, but I have to say that the Savage is one of the best. Hardly any kick, light, good feel, accurate as hell, and more than enough gun to take down anything in Georgia. Haha.

Very true, some people over compinsate with the bigger rifles.lol

Haha. True. I just don't see the point in using anything bigger than a 270 with the size deer that we have here.

Idk man, 4 up, 4 down with my .270 and even a smaller grain bullet.

I have one at my shop that allows me to get about 20' from it. It grew up there and I've been interacting with it since it was born. My shop is right on a highway for the local deer. I've hit them before with a blow gun and could easily get several head shots with my 9mm pistol. They walk through nearly every evening on their way to the river so if I ever want to shoot one I don't have to go far. And where I'm at I shoot just about whenever I want and no one cares, I've even heard the machine shop up the street shooting as well. I've thought about taking one for some meat this year.

Got both my tree stands up yesterday. Along with my apple corn and deer camera. Then while I was scouting out a field looking for rubbs and tracks, I ran across a 4 1/2 ft rattler snake and another baby one after that. Needless to say, I have two nice skins hanging out on my shed now drying out.

Oh and I'll be hunting with a 30/06. Hopefully either early Saturday morning or Sunday.

I'm still using my trusty old Remington 742 .30-06 with an old school Redfield wide angle... I've been through several (and many MUCH nicer) in the past few years, but just can't beat this thing. I haven't had to touch the scope in 3 years and it's still a tack driver.
