Chevy actually said they won't use the Camaro for Nascar since it would ruin the cars design shape. (I can give you a source)

I have nothing against Nascar except for the obvious. Why not just use the Ford Econoline stickers? It would have no difference to what is considered ok for them.

This is just another reason Nascar is a joke when it comes to comparing them to stock cars.

As a wise person has said many times before. The way to settle this stupidity is to have a Nascar to represent each brand. Not one that has production stickers on it. It would be a Ford Nascar and that is all there is to it.

I hate to use this pic so much but really.....what other sport would this happen? I have yet to see Corvette racing put a 911 badge on a C6.R

Die hard NASCAR fan here, and Mustang porn ftw. Thanks for the new wallpaper pic. :goodjob:

And to answer the OP's question, it's probably the NASCAR Stang b/c nothing about it is Mustang, except for maybe the rear axle.

Sorry man, but NASCAR is one of the most challenging motorsports running today. ALMS, the Koni Challenge (lol) and SCCA GT pale in comparison. They may be more entertaining and may be more of a "drivers race" than NASCAR, but NASCAR is a team sport. Name one other motorsport (other than F1) more demanding of every team member and I'll revoke my statement. And got damn I'm not even a NASCAR fan but I respect the hell out of anyone in the sport.

It's not the drivers, crew, or the racing...it's all the bullshit. It's the WWE of automobiles.

Um...every top level motorsport is.

Look at sports car racing. Look at the Le Mans 24 and what happens in the pits when a car comes into service. Or better yet when it is pulled into the garage to have 20+ mechanics jump on it to do the impossible in a couple minutes.
Remember the herculean effort put on by Highcroft at Petit to get that car ready for race start?

And lets look at the WRC. Consider in between stages when the team is given such a short amount of time to overhaul the car before time penalties are given out.

Oh and the NHRA nitro classes. A full on super rebuild after every single run where almost every thing has to be replaced. I have seen them work and it is most impressive.

Every top level of racing is a team sport. That is why a pro driver addresses a weekend as what "we" accomplished instead of what "I" accomplished.

Most of your comments are ok but this one is damn wrong. I can provide videos to further prove my point.

NASCAR has the potential to be cool but it would have to go back to its roots. Like the embodiment shown in that challenger. I'm not saying that there is no skill involved but on my end all I see are really fast billboards on a loop. So boring.

I am a huge nascar fan, been so for many years, and have studied the sport, cars, and the personalities. I will admit nascar now isnt anything like it was even 10 years ago, much less 30 or 40 years ago. I will also admit that nascar you have to have money to compete in nascar, which is where the sponsors comes from, nothing different than there being a big Russell Athletics logo in the front of the falcons stadium, instead there are 43 cars a week, competing against each other.

Nascar is one of the ONLY motor sports that puts on a good show for the fans, not only the racing but the whole experience, you dont even have to goto the race, you can just goto the track and stay outside the track and have a day full of stuff to do.

on the competition side of it, no its not the most entertaining motorsport to watch on TV, but from a competitior point of view look at Juan Pablo Montoya, been in the sport for 3 years, and he is just now getting into his own, still has only won one race on fuel mileage at sonoma calif. all these open wheel, F1, Indy Car, Sports car drivers come in and cant do anything, because its a complete different driving style than the light Indy F1, sports cars.

I mean Dario F. won the IRL championship in 07, came to nascar in 08, failed miserably at it, i think if he stuck with it he could done an alright job, but went back to the IRL, won the championship this year

end of the day the reason NASCAR is so popular is cause this is America!

I hope you're kidding.

Hell the ease of getting licensed for oval track racing compared to road racing says one thing.

Not totally kidding, but there may have been some manipulation going on...

But on a side note anyone who doesn't think NASCAR is real racing is pretty damn ignorant. It may be boring but they know how to drive. Although I'm sure you being the pro racer that you are could keep an 800hp car from spinning off into a wall after a rear impact at 170mph and 30 degrees.

end of the day the reason NASCAR is so popular is cause this is America!

That statement makes Americans look stupid. Btw....Nascar only became popular in the last decade. This isn't a football thing.

You're post is just saying, it is what it is so accept it. That isn't how intelligent people do.

So you're saying NASCAR is equal to other top level motorsports??? ;) :ninja: Sounds like the Nascar stang belongs after all.

You're bringing two cross arguments.

My post said Nascar's "teamwork" aspect insn't at the level of other racing series.

You're reply deals with a car sticker being in the sport.

I know you like to argue with me but, this time, i think you're doing just for kicks instead of giving me valid points.

How does using a Mustang Nascar sticker say anything about the team aspect of Nascar? On a serious note, why not use the Taurus SHO stickers. Would probably look better. Still lame, but better.

Great post, says about everything everyone knows already. NASCAR isn't the most expensive sport or anything. Ever been to another type of race? I've been to a NASCAR event, left before it even started. Sure, of course road racers and such don't do good off the bat, TOTALLY different ball game. Stupid point.

Its amazing to me that someone can even attempt to compare Grand-Am and Nascar. With Nascar you get mandatory cautions to group the field back up with Grand-Am they aren't throwing a caution unless they have to.

Nascar is great entertainment but it isn't anywhere close to the best racing it the world.

Ill take Grand-Am and ALMS anyday.
