94 honda civic ex/si
just swapped a d16z6 for a d16a last week. And i'm loving it.
unfortunately...the throttle body was damaged on the "a" so we just used the one from the "z6".
i had this problem with the z6. Starting up the car isn't a problem. But after actually giving the car gas (most after driving) and the car goes to idle...you can hear and see the tach do a slow but constant rev from about 700 -1200 rpm. as it does this, everytime it gets to 700 it dims all my lights and sounds like it's about to turn off. but just revs itself back up to 1200...and sounds fine.
it does this almost constantly when it idles or isn't in gear.

Anyone have any ideas of the problem and/or know the simple - hard (cheap to expensive) fixes.
Any help is welcome

(this isn't my car but this is the exact problem i'm having)

Try setting the idle air screw in some. If that doesnt work clean the IACV.

If the car is dimming and struggling it could be the alternator going bad and having a hard time keeping the system charged..

You may need to replace the TPS sensor. Or possibly the IACV. I had the same problem in my 94 d16z6. It was my TPS sensor that was bad and the IACV needed replaced too. But im betting on its your TPS sensor on the throttle body
