Mine will be like that when finished. Except not that horrible red. And lolol @ "Sport Model." There was no such trim level. And it's hardly rare. There are two items in that car that are rare and that's the 8-track player and the overhead console.

Other than the descriptions, that car is beautiful. I'd take it any day. That's exactly what my seats are going to look like next February. Later, QD.

.

Well that car also has the 5 speed package with the tach and deluxe gauges, the houndstooth seats, 3 spoke wood wheel, wood shift knob, and the chrome shifter stick with console. None of those items are particularly rare, but they are sought after on the Honda forums and E-bay. Not to mention its hard enough to find a decent 5 speed gearbox. I looked all over for a 1st. gen 5 speed box when I had my 1200, but I ended up settling with the 4 speed.

A few months ago, I saw a nearly perfect 1st gen Wagon at pull-a-part. I was kinda sad to see it in there and headed for the crusher, but I consoled myself by taking the spindles. :D

Were they Honda 8 track players?

Yep. It was a factory option.

5 speed, Deluxe gauges aren't really rare at all. The houndstooth is, BUT you can get the seats restitched in that fashion if you choose (this is what I'm doing in mine). The steering wheel and knob aren't really rare, it's just that the ones out there are in horrible shape. I see those on the Honda site all the time that need refurbishing. And they aren't really that much sought after. Every once in a while I'll see someone asking, but it's not that often. My 12" trim rings are more rare than he parts you named off. My 5 speed came from an 83 Civic. Straight bolt it.

The 8-track was not a factory option. It was a dealer option. They were made by Pioneer. Later, QD.

But the ratios on the 2nd. gen 5 speeds are not as good for the 1200 motors. I'm sure they are fine for you with the 1.8. My bad on the 8 track being a dealer option, thats what I meant. The a/c was a dealer option too, and I remember when I took the a/c junk out of my car looking at the wiring and thinking "did a third grader do this?" :lmfao:

Since Honda sold these cars at suck a low margin (I think $2500 out the door in '79, about half what the Camaro cost), dealers really made their money with the options. Usually decals. Every other one I've seen around here has the Honda stripes on the rockers, or some '70's graphics in booger green and baby shit yellow. :lmfao:

Hey man, I know what you mean about the A/C. I took all mine out and WTF? You know I actually have the .esp file of the exact stickers that went from the top of the rear quarter window and rolls down under it and across the middle/side of the car? Heheh. Was only made for the smaller 1200 car but I had the guy that had an original sticker get it scanned into computer into the correct file and had it lengthened at a point where you couldn't tell. I can't wait to get it printed out to put on the car. I'm doing that at the end of January. Later, QD.

Yep, out of all the cars I've driven, my '79 Civic got the most positive attention/compliments. Once I get the Falcon done I might get rid of the truck and try to get another 1st gen.

Where mine sits now took less than $3,000. I'm only about 2K left to be done. Later, QD.
