I was wondering if any one on here would know EXACTLY what issues I might run into swapping a 3T-c into a 1st gen celica. I know I might have to fab motor and trans mounts from scratch. I was mainly worried about oil pan and bell housing clearance. Thanks for any assistance youmight be able to offer I asked the same thing over on 1stgencelica.com

you shouldnt have any problems on swaping a 3tc engine to a celica cuz they came with the T engine in Japan, but here, they have the R engine and the only thing you need to do is, find a Carina engine cross member, it will bolt on perfectlly to the celica body and you can bolt in the T engine without any problems, i was in the moreland Ave. pull a part not so long ago and there was 2 of them carinas there! good luck!

Unless he is willing to do it for a case of beer and the cost of parts , I think I will go hunt a carina subframe. Now the reason for doing this is to clear the oil pup I assume , right? because if its a mount issue I can fix that .

Wow that would be nice and it never hit to me to put 3tc in one. Get one of those crossmembers for me? Have never owned 70s celica but would like the swap parts for when i do.
