While i agree that Joe Wilson's outburst during the presidents speech was out of line, why is it that we aren't seeing the same uproar from the media with Alan Grayson's "speech."

apples and oranges....not double standards.

1. you refer to THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES as a "liar"
2. you call him a liar in the middle of HIS speech that's being aired on every single national news station you can think of (probably even talk radio).
3. you degrade him for his plan, but don't have one of your own.
4. sarah palin (the republican captain hoe-save-a-hoe) referred to obama's plan as a "death-panel" which sounds to me like this "you will die" rhetoric is the new hotness.

1.) Grayson didn't interrupt anyone or disrupt the proceedings. He followed House protocol and spoke when he actually had the floor, unlike Wilson, who both interrupted the president, spoke out of turn, and caused a disruption.

2.) Grayson is actually right (whereas Wilson was wrong in his remark1). There is no Republican plan before the either house that I'm aware of. Republicans are fighting reform tooth and nail but have yet to bring anything to the table but resistance2.

Next week I'm going to send $25 to Grayson's PAC. :goodjob:

Edit: anyone know how to format subscript/superscript text in this forum? :screwy:

Doesn't seem like they have a cohesive plan. They have a series of bits and pieces, but not the comprehensive overhaul and the creation of a public / universal option that we need.

Also, many of their proposals are just propaganda about abortion and illegal immigrants. :ninja:

In other words...

Grayson was like Kanye West talking shit at his own concert

Wilson was like Kanye West when he stole the mic from Taylor Swift

I find it funny that devoted followers of the mesiah continue the rhetoric that republicans are offering no plans for reform. Why dont you just tell the truth? Why dont you just say that the dems will not allow the repubs to offer up any plan? They have been killing proposals from the right without even allowing a vote on them.

BTW, Wilson was technically correct that it was a lie. Though it wasnt a part of the legislation, Obama simply plans immunity for all of those criminals.

Blender, I know you are ignorant, but how is an ammendment to clarifies that federal money cannot go to that group of crimminals or to abortions is just propoganda?

Because there are already protections against illegal immigrants recieving benefits in the legislation, and as far as abortion goes, if its for the health of the mother I support it. as far as abortion, when we get into politicizing what procedures are/aren't covered because of the religious extreme... health care is pretty much fucked.

I agree about the health of the mothern but that isnt even an issue. I have yet to see ANY insurance plan that covers voluntary procedures, and that is exactly what abortion is.

I dont remember the specifics, but the protections against illegals getting money and subsidies were were very weak and had a lot of loopholes.

As far as the religious extremes, I dont believe in any religions and I am very much against abortion as birth control, just like more than 50% of americans. Maybe I should look at it the other way though. Require an abortion for unwed women or families that make less than 50k a year.

If this new coverage will cover voluntary procedures though, I gues that since I am going to be stuck paying for it, I might as well take advantage of it. I could get my nose fixed since I never reset it after it was broken. Maybe get my ankle fixed as it needs some ligamment work. Not like I will have to pay for it right.

t.

I'm unaware of any private insurance covering abortions either, and from what I have read the proposed "public option" won't either. Its people like Michelle Bachmann who bring "OMG ABORTION" into this debate when there really is no cause for it.

Wow, this thread made it to half a page before going off topic! The politics forum here is almost like real political discussion!

Actually there is cause for it because liberals do want abortions covered. Just like they want to cover illegals.
