Even my wife drove in the snow with her 98 Honda Civic 5speed. She was out in it until just after 7:30. So anyone who CAN'T drive in snow, my wife can. Lick it.

I was checking your sig pic and it makes me want to get dynoed just to see what numbers I'm putting up. I am sure they're lower than stock being that the engine is probably not in prime condition. However, I do love chilly weather for one main reason. Once you get the engine properly warmed, it runs like a champ. I got Big Orange out and about today. Once she was in good running temp, I gave her hell and she was just purring right along.

They hook up a sensor under your hood that sends a signal to their computer and reads the output of your cars performance. Your car is strapped down from the front and rear as you can see in my sig. They wait until car is warm and they drive it slow to 3rd gear. Then they hit it until it winds out third gear and that is where you get your numbers from. It's fun watching everyone cover their ears when you have a loud car at around 8200RPM inside a building. :D

This may be a stupid question but I don't think I've ever been told or given an honest answer to this question. If you push your car past redline, isn't that a bad thing? I mean, wasn't the redline designed so you DON'T a-splode the engine?

Oh and my car should be plenty loud being that there is not really an exhaust to speak of.

Redline is a factory setting. Doesn't always mean the best. My factory redline was low 7k with the motor in it now, and it will spin until 9k, but 7800 is my best shift point. They won't keep pushing it. They'll push it to redline. On your dyno graph you will see where your power band starts dropping a good bit. That is where you want to shift to stay in your power band through the gears. If MSP has a power band. :taun:

Most of the time with extremely higher revving you'll end up dropping a valve, spinning a bearing, etc... hence the reason my car got an upgraded valve train (valve springs, retainers, cams) because the guy was always taking it too high on stock parts. Just depends on what the motor was made for. Rev limiters do help you not do that if you aren't paying attention or whatever so you don't over rev it. But, redline doesn't always mean the best place to shift.
