Yeah because owning a car you can buy all day for $5k is totally BS.

you should have just cut out the firewall, not the whole damn car. good luck getting that windshield back in. or driving in a straight line.

Austin?
09-29-2009, 05:01 PM
yeah, i cut the the floor and A-piller..

here is why.
this car was totaled out and there is no way of fixing it. (and i mean NO WAY TO FIX)
both front frame got 7-9 inch pushed back, strut tower are gone, windshield are gone, door...... well, there was no door because it was cut in order to pull the driver out..... so on and so on and so on.

i install the (now) passanger door and it bolted on perfectly and it open/close with out any sign of any damage>

i got this car for 100buck and 300buck for the WHOLE front RHD clip.

the title are clean and clear.

OVER ALL IM PRETTY HAPPY WITH MY CUT AND PASTE PROJECT.

i mean i understand that, but your car will NEVER be straight. did you just cut the frame rails?

Um? Are you speaking from experience? Because I've seen 10+ cars done this way with zero problems, Measure twice and cut one and it usually comes out just fine.

Austin?

we'll see... i trusted my measurement.

It won't drive straight and is VERY dangerous. I remember seeing stuff about this a while back and bad issues from it. This is not even close to the proper way of doing it. Bad idea man...

GL with it man. You may do it right and everything may fit....but its VERY dangerous if you ever get in an accident. I knew a guy with a GTO that he got totaled and it was put back together by professionals, got into a wreck and the car split into pieces.

Austin?

A lot of you guys really dont know what the hell you're talking about. Myself being a welder, if he knows what he's doing he should have no issue's at all.

How do you think they put cars together in the first place, all that silicone under the hood? If you're doing butt welds give yourself a 1/4" gap at each joint, and add some plate on the INSIDE of any tubes and weld both ends to it followed by a good solid bead down the middle, grind and sand smooth, done.

I guarantee that if he's doing it right and can read a tape measure that it's just as safe as the day it rolled off the showroom floor.

Either way I'd like to do an RHD to my teg just because I've never had an RHD car.

Good work dude.
