I haven't posted much in a while but here is my new used car:D: a 2000 Celica GT-S with 142,000 miles, a 6 speed manual, 17x7 wheels, the 2ZZ-GE and leather interior to name a few.

I took me about a week to get it but I have it now and I can park the AE86 for a while while I fix a couple things on it.

Most of your average "tuners" go for looks, though, you know.

But I don't want to rag on the dude's car. Later, QD.

When they first came out there was a flurry of people who tried to go from fifth to sixth and hit fourth instead, completely killing the poor car. I blame those people.

I still love them though. Performance wise, I like these more than the tCs. Lower it a bit and get a big rear sway bar and they are really good performers.

yea, short ratio gearbox and accidents leaned out the gts ranks. the motor doesn't like to be over-revved at all. and my buddy had his about eight months ago and wrecked it.... one more down and out

The 2ZZ-GE has 11.5:1 compression ratio, 180 hp out of 1.8 liters (1795 cc). I figured the opinion on it would be split and I don't mind it. I dealt with the same thing on the AE86 when I was talking to people about it. I prefer them over the tCs as well since it's built for more RPMs (thanks Yamaha). I know I hear the Celica's are "chick cars" from several people, but that's why I don't drive the auto :goodjob: I was deciding on either the older Celica or even an Integra (non-VTEC) but figured I'd go with a newer model and I couldn't find a good ST20x Celica or Integra that hasn't been modded and decided to go with the ZZT231 because I've always wanted a 6 speed and also I felt that the 2ZZ-GE was the successor to the 4A-GE and wanted to see what that's like. I personally like the look, but what's more important is that driving it is almost as much fun as my AE86.

If you like the look that's all that matters... as soon as one person states they don't like it on these boards the rest of the sheep follow.

I like it, nice car man.

I have enjoyed my GT-S, especially the handling aspect of it. They are definitely lacking in the horsepower department with mods compared to the Honda boys, but still a fun DD for sure.

The best mods for these cars is to just go drop, wheels, and suspension mods. Trying to get any hp out of the 2zz in these cars seems to cost way too much compared to what you could spend in mods on a Honda.

Have fun with the car man, and don't mis-shift or let that oil get too low!

I still remember when these came out, I learned how to drive a stick shift on the first GT-S Atlanta Toyota got, right off the truck. There fun cars, just some poor engineering when it came to the engine; There was always one or two of em in the shop getting an engine swap. Still fun car though, nice DD, enjoy man.

I'm not a big FWD fan but I've always loved these cars, and a great way to get to my heart is to drive something that isn't common. I like this better than the Honda's all over the site, so good job.

That just means I'll have to wait to upgrade it until I decide what exactly I'd like to do. The 4A-GE wasn't cheap either when I rebuilt the engine, so at least I know what I'm in for and that doesn't phase me one bit. I wasn't a big fan of FWD either, but I couldn't go wrong with a Toyota :D It definitely handles and grips better than my AE86 (maybe the 17s have something to do with it). A car is always more fun when it can handle well over how much power it can make. If I didn't think that way I would've went with a Mustang, Camaro or an older pony/muscle car. Thanks guys for your opinions.

Nice.Allways like these cars..Dont know why people are saying they dont like to be over-revved.Type-s dont like to be over-revved too,so i guess there also poor engineering as well:D That happens to almost all stock cars when they go into the wrong gear or go past rpm redline...Take off the cat on your car if your going to the track..The cat seems to hold them back alot @ high rpm:goodjob:

regardless of those numbers, there wasnt a car out when the GTS was made, and the Type R was in final production. that came close to the Type R as much as the GTS did. The celica was/is a very capable car..

I've driven the GT-S for a little over a month now and I love jumping into lift. I've also been learning the (big) difference between my AE86 and my ZZT231 in the drivetrain department. I also feel the need of getting an LSD for it, but of course some of those things will have to be addressed after I pay it off. I know that not everyone likes it, but that's their opinion. I'm just curious but why are the majority hating the MR7s? I like them because of the wider tires and bigger tire size. I don't mind the style so much. I would consider it "ricer" if it had 18s or something of the sort. It may not be the fastest in the crowd (though the AE86 isn't either)but it's definitely fun to drive (like the AE86).
