Ok, so I have a 08 tC and im hearing this weird "knocking" sound when I turn on the car. Its kind of hard to explain but its like a double knock right when i turn the key all the way.

any info is helpful, thanks.

so many things that can be not even funny. have somebody look at it or warranty repair at the dealership.

i forgot to mention is doesnt do it everytime i turn it on, its every once in a while.

for me personally i dont have an idea that might even be 10% with out hearing for myself.

it could be your lifters tapping, you'll normally hear the lifter tap when cold start, cause oil isn't up at the vial cover (head) yet.
after the car warm up a little, the tapping stops right?

hmmm it could be a possible rod knock but like every one else is saying you might want to have somebody look at it...good luck with it

some vehicles have a faulty starter, even though it is rare to see, the
clutch assembly in times wears down prematurely or has a defect in the gear drive.

i am not sure, just throwing it out there :goodjob:

i am not sure, just throwing it out there :goodjob:ok your right if u want to get technical but like everybody else i just call it a starter. its not like he is going to be like ok ill change the starter clutch.

at the end of the day everything in thread is blind guessing with no support other than clicking. i can make a list of everything that will click id be going for days.

take it to the dealer. these cars have the timing chain if im not mistaken, maybe a timing chain tensioner?
