[I]Sooooo, a good friend of mine hit me up this morning saying "So, I love waking up to this" and showed me a cell pic of his GTR...

I thought he bought new wheels and was putting them on, on account theres a jack holding the car up... turns out some ******* jacked up his car, stole the wheels, left the other side sitting on one block on the other side they left the car jacked up..
that was around 11ish...
then like 5 mins ago he sent me these:

it looks like a fairly new jack. leaving the jack did prevent some damage at least. did the blocked side get damaged much? getting your wheels stole is bad enough, i hope there is no brake/body damage.

GTR and in apartments. A big no no. Nice cars need nice secure garages. Sucks that they stole his wheels, but if hes got full coverage then it shouldnt be a problem.

His rotors will need to be replaced, and his sideskirt is damaged badly. We'll find out if there's more damage once he gets some wheels put on there so it can be towed. Once it's towed to nissan he'll know what needs to be replaced, which insurance will cover.
What baffles me is.. why not steal the fucking brembo's while you're at it?! Worth more than the wheels..

well b.c the jack is left there and what appears to be new, try figuring out what store sells that jack, have them find that exact jack in the computer and figure out who bought it.

it shouldn't be too hard to find the culprits, i don't imagine too many gtr wheels being out there to begin with. not many gtr's have been sold and the wheels on those aren't common at all on other cars. just keep checking around in forums, craigslist, meets, and on the road. they should be easy to spot. sorry to hear about his loss and i hope they catch them soon.

not trying to criticize, just saying IF he knew about the 11 incidents in the 6 month period of time, then it wasn't a good idea to park it there overnight. hell if it was me and i knew that, i wouldn't have parked there, even in the daytime. if he didn't know about the incidents until after the fact, then obviously there's no way he could have known and it's just very bad luck.

actually there is something you can do about it. have a good aftermarket alarm system installed and add a tilt sensor to detect if the car is being jacked up or towed. if you bring up the point about disabling the alarm, then add a battery backup and extra sirens, also make sure the factory horn is tied into the alarm as well. if you want overkill install electric airhorns in addition to the alarm siren and factory horn like i have done. i'm pretty sure anyone who cars enough about their expensive car or a car with mods would want to protect their investment. however i never knew just how many people would rather spend the money for mods first and say "i'll get the alram later", until i found this site and read the posts about all the cars getting stolen. an alarm is always the first thing you should do before getting your first mods. also, another poster mentioned that it didn't have locking lugs, i somehow highly doubt that and would assume a car in that price range would have locking lugs standard, but if he was right, then i would have gotten those installed too at the time of purchase as it will slow thieves down a little. hopefully long enough for someone to notice.

all possible options of monitoring the complex or property can get expensive. especially since homeowner's associations, property management companies, etc. are generally too cheap to shell out the money for the extra security... for instance, off duty police officers normally charge in the neighborhood of $35-$45 per hour. it's better to do what we can to protect our own property and hope that it's good enough.

Even with a tilt alarm and locks his wheels would still be gone, maybe someone would have gotten up and gone to a window and see why the alarm was going off and catch a license number or the get away car but the wheels would still be gone. Hopefully they catch the people who did it but all in all being parked in an abandoned parking lot or your driveway is the same thing for wheel thieves.

install a gate with a special pass code for each apartment and install cameras at the gate that show the drivers face and another to get the license plate. That way if anything happens they know who did it....

The alarm would have gone off the second the car moved....probably cause the bastards to get scared and run off. No one in their right mind would sit there and continue to jack the wheels with the alarm blasting....even a wheel thief.

Its been done, and in the time it takes for then to throw those wheels in the back of the SUV and leave they couldnt care less if they wore glow in the dark shirts with their names on them. I myself wouldnt steal anything from anyone knowing damn well I would be pissed if anyone ever did the same to me, but trust me. If theres a hit out on some wheels, nothing you can really do except lock it in a garage so they dont know what car you drive haha.

I'm sure somebody did, but with him only being a visitor they didn't know if that was his car or not. Example, if you happen to look outside your window right now and see some random person in a random car going through the glove compartment and center console, your first instincts wouldn't be "hey, that car is getting robbed"

an alarm is meant to be a deterrent. if it fails as a deterrent and someone still tries to steal whatever, then it's supposed to draw attention. sure, at that time of night people may have looked out the window and went back to bed, but maybe if you're lucky... a tag number, a description of the vehicle, and description and number of culprits can be called in to the police. yes i do realize that if someone wants to steal it bad enough they will find a way. however, if you make it a pain in the ass for them, it might lead to them getting caught or not even trying it at all. having an alarm does not mean you're 100% safe, it just reduces your chances of a theft, also, knowing where you're at also helps. there are certain places i would not drive certain cars to, let alone park in those places. yes i know, even if you're very careful it can still happen, but it's all about reducing the chance of it happening.

1st off. If you have a car might as well drive it. Secondly Wheel Locks dont do shit if you know what your doing. And the last thing I gotta say is learn from your mistakes, I hope insurance has your back and get a fucking alarm!
God you're an idiot.

A porsche would not have had its wheels stolen. The bolt-pattern is pretty exclusive... Kind of like my car. Not too many people have a use for wide ass wheels with super high offsets and 5x120.65 bolt-pattern. Good luck getting a jack under it too...

UPDATE:
As far as the comments about can afford the car but not a house, or a garage etc. The car is paid off, i have a house and a garage, i went out with my girlfriend to dinner dropped her off and we were relaxing watching tv and i passed out. Woke up in the morning to this..
as far as the rusted rotors, this is about 6 hours after the wheels were stolen. The sprinklers went on through-out the night and thats how they looked.
Amazingly enough i never looked at the wheel lugs or took them off to realize that nissan did not put wheel locks on the car. Insurance will be covering it.
Now the car will be coming back with a nice set of wheels, coil overs, full carbon fiber body kit and 20 wheel locks. I dont care if i need 20 sockets for the thing. New rims wont be taken. New alarm going on as well as a custom camera setup to a mini net book mounted in the car that i use for tuning as well.

For those of you asking "why wouldn't he get a garage?"
His girlfriend lives at those apartments. Spent the night at her place.
This GT-R is running a Haltech and a couple other tweeks.
~600whp.
That complex has been hit 11 times in the past 6 months. TV crew is coming out tomorrow to do a story on the lack of action by the complex and police.opps.......my bad

The alarm would have gone off the second the car moved....probably cause the bastards to get scared and run off. No one in their right mind would sit there and continue to jack the wheels with the alarm blasting....even a wheel thief.i would say the lug nuts were already off before the car was even jacked up. then two jack it up, one person per wheel and there gone as soon as the alarm goes off.

Holy shit that needs a drop! Fuckin 4x4 ass GT-R! This ain't dub city, bitch. Love the pix tho, them angles go hard!:bump:
I just lol'd pretty hard at how pro those pictures are to kinda show what happened. I'm used to seeing shitty phone pictures when something like this goes down. Not no damn fish eye and HDR! :lmfao:
But at least he got all that shit taken care of, even though he had to go through all that bullshit. Carbon fiber body kit ALMOST worth it though. I know damn well them shits cost a fuck ton for a GT-R.

well b.c the jack is left there and what appears to be new, try figuring out what store sells that jack, have them find that exact jack in the computer and figure out who bought it.
...just an idea.
cops do this in cases where they dont have much DNA evidence but onyl the tools from the scene. most everything hs a serial number. the serial number tells when the product was amde, the assembly line it came off of, and where it was shipped. trace it to which store it was shipped, and the store keeps UPC codes for returns n such. thats how i ahd to retireve a lot of returns at autozone. look on the date it ws bought, and review the cacmera footage. That however will cost you more than you can probably afford. forensics is not cheap.
i'e seen them trace a roll of twine and a saw right back to the home depot this murderer bought it from. u will be surprised.

Easy, leave another nice car with nice wheels as bait a few nights..play music loud, rev engine, look like a total noob douche to the thieves..
and wait....
and wait...
and wait...
Until they decide to steal THAT car...
From there, do as you please...handle yourself, call the cops.....
Very sorry to see and hear this. No one deserves to come to their car and see that, especially a new GT-R.
