None..if you're not a dumbass you don't need it.
I run Malwarebyte's maybe once every 2 or 3 months to make sure nothing has slipped by.
As far as customer computers, freeware-AVG Anti-Virus, paid-Norton.

Besides Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware is amazing.

AVG (10 years), malwarebytes anti-malware, and super anti-spyware (lifetime). nothing gets on my machines without being detected and then nuked, lol. norton is garbage, first antivirus/firewall program i hacked, cracked, and bypassed. kapernsky is too easily bruted. bitdefender has too many subfiles, directories, dlls, etc. than it can keep up with too keep it really safe and secure. mcafee is just beyond retarded. just get into the definition lists and you can run that program like it was a car. AVG is the only thing i have seen that is worth a shit for home users. the only stuff out there that would be better would be a program that runs ASE encryption for the files and has revolving/rotating/interchanging access files, directories, and lists locations. that kind of software will easily run you over $1000 a year.

Symantec End-Point for IDS, A/V, and Phishing.

Malwarebytes is excellent for removing garbage as well as SuperAntiSpyware.

Free A/V would definately go to AVG and paid I would have to say ESET NOD32

Just my humble opinions :D

Only thing I use is Avast! free home edition. Loved it for years, hasn't failed me yet.

i've got three macs myself, but it's better to be safe than sorry.oh by the way, they do get viruses.here's a link to show you how the new snow leopard as well as all the other OS's are vulnerable.

http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/09/16/hacker-snow-leopard-less-secure-than-windows

however, macs are still the best machine on the market over everything else in so many ways.

AVG free should be fine for most people i would also suggest something like spybot/malewarebytes, etc...

its possible, but very very rare. Not many people write a virus for such a small share of the market. I've never even heard of anyone getting one. myself. But thanks for the link...

Many people do.
Some people just don't know they have them.
Some Mac haters write viruses just to piss Mac owners off!

You need security regardless of your situation. Any website can harm your cpu once you surf onto it. Examples are = myspace, porn sites or any site that could be popular. Advertisements, popup ads and anything random can attack you cpu or anyone.

kapersky + malwarebytes + tune up utilities = win

ESET NOD32 + Tuneup Utilities are the 2 primary SW I use to protect and maintain my PCs and my clients :)

My company is using MS Forefront though, seems pretty good as well.

eset nod 32 , reasons why to use it: small memory footprint (doesn't take up much space unlike symantec norton), doesn't slow down your computer like norton does b/c norton uses up a lot of system resources while its active, it catches more viruses than mcafee and norton

I've had most all of em, paid and free. The free Avast has been the best for me.

I use Ubuntu so I don't worry too much. I never used any security measures when I used windows though. If you're smart about things, you would never have to worry about it. Security programs are there for people who don't know better than to open that unknown attachment or download unverified things.

x2 I use Ubuntu. :goodjob:

BUT

I have a dual OS on my laptop. I use AVG Free edition, and SuperAntiSpyware on Windows IF I need it. Usually I am a good boy and don't be poking around where I shouldn't be. But it is always good to have some anti-virus/spy-ware programs readily to be used.

Avast Free on the Vista laptop, and NOD32 on the XP Desktop. Both have been perfect!
