So he's been downplaying his lil CRX for the longest time as y'all know, and claiming, "oh i only shift at 8k RPMs" on his BUILT block/Head ITR motor :thinking:. Oh he stood by it too.

Now he posted a video of a little pull he did, last mark on RPM gauge is 8k...it sure looks like he's at 9.5k rpms (needle pegs, he still stays on it, shift light comes on, shift). He says it's a cable speedo so it's off by 700-800rpms. I call bullshit, y'all tell me:

I shift between 8000-8200. Always have. My tach is 700-800 Rpms off if you ever owned a crx you would know that is a common problem with a cable speedo instead of electronic.

So my needle goes past 8000, so what. When I shift at 8100-8200.my tach is reading way past 8.

Its a stock block , it has SKunk2 valvetrain, no its not a BUILT motor.

It has OEM:
Rods
Pistons
Headgasket
Bearings
Headstuds
Crankshaft

Furthermore , my claim of 700-800rpms being off on my tach is about right although with higher RPMs the gap widens. Basically my motor revs faster than the tach can read out, then output that signal to my tach. Hence why i have to convert to Electronic speedo.

It could be as much as 1000rpm off for all i know, i just know that based on the time i dynoed, it was around 700-800 according to what scotty and i were seeing on the logs

My built NON-VTEC head Scotty has my CEL Shift Light set to 8500. People take the rev limiter off of STOCK B20/B18A and push it to 8k on rod bolts intended for nothing over 7200 - so Mike is shifting RIGHT where some1 w/ a trick B18C5 head should shift... 9k or a little north of there. Since he has cams he should still be making power there... not just shifting there to look kool. You bit it off - so now fix your car and chew it.

After looking at the vids -- I'd say his CEL shit light is set to 9k, and he is shifting around 9500. (you always want to "lead" the driver by 500rpms or so b/s it takes some time for you to realize the light is on and react). How far ahead you lead the driver depends on how experienced you are as a racer and how quickly you react. Mike has been doing this for a while so I assume Scotty wouldn't lead him by much more than 500 rpms or so.

here's what i saw in the video. mike test driving his car and pushing it to its limits. that was a "TEST DRIVE"! i didnt see anyone next to him racing so why does it matter where he shifted in that video? that wasnt the race between the 2 so it doesnt fucking matter. my car goes to 6500 but i shift at 6k. all cars are different. just because he shifts that high doesnt mean that he's going to be making more power then you at that point. this thread was pointless. i just think you need to race and get it over with.

I think what you mean is that RACING is Shady. F1 teams cheat - NASCAR teams cheat. If there is a rule, racers will bend it. It's part of the scene - and to me I like it as long as the runs are not for money. I WILL run you clean (or at least as clean as the questions you ask me) when it comes to loot. IDK. As a third party independent, I wanna say if that CRX is calling out Corvettes and 350~hp WRXs, it clearly goes faster than 14s. Especially if that 14 second run was done at Commerce. Because we all know Commerce usually has higher than desirable DAs.
