The first two attempts for SouthEast Drag Day have been rained out, so it is time for a third and final attempt this year. Here is the link to the last thread : http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227999

Silverdollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA (Silver Dollar Raceway (http://www.silverdollarraceway.com))
TIME:
Gates open @ 10am and racing begins @ 11am. Quick 8 Eliminations will begin approximately @ 1pm. Racing will end between 4pm and 5pm depending on racers & the track.
TECH CARDS:
Tech cards cost $20 (or two for $35) if you pre-register. PRE-REGISTRATION ENDS OCTOBER 4TH! Tech cards will go up in price @ the track to $30. So, register early, save your spot, and save yourself some money!!!
*[If you plan to attend, but are not sure if your car will until after registration ends due to modifications or car problems, email me and we can work out something to not have to pay $30 at the track. [email protected]]
GATE FEE:
Silverdollar charges a fee of $10/person to get in their gate. This is not related to your tech card price. This includes all spectators as well as racers.

I know me and Hunter are going...so thats a 9 sec car and a potential 8 sec car. Quicksilverado is going in a 10 sec truck...im bringing another 11 sec truck and 2 12sec trucks as well.
rain is at 40% right now so maybe it will hold off.

It's looking like I might swing down to make a few quick runs just to get a baseline for my car then head back home because it looks like I'm gonna work on Sunday as well. Hard to turn down the double time.

Just got back from Southeast Drag Day. Good turnout, alot of fast cars. Of course mine was not one of those. Fastest I could muster was a 12.849 @ 111.62 mph with a 2.067 60ft time. Rest of the day I was running a consistant 13.0 @ 112. Traction was a big issue as you can see. I thought Pirelli P-Zero's in a 235/55/R17 were famous for the amounts of traction they Provide!!!:crazy:

Great event, great people, great cars, great time!!! Got in like 18 runs :D and enjoyed every one. My best time in the hybrid was 14.057...... I hope to get into the high 13s next time.

Where you going to jaw jack or race your car?

AND you would have got to see a Top Fuel dragster make 2 passes. Never seen anything like that before.

Hell yeah! Qualifying was a 12pm, 1pm, and 2 pm. Quick 8 started at 2:45 and went until 4. TNT in between all that. It was so dead there today. It was awesome!


Would have loved to have made it. Put some pics up!

We got plenty of video. I'll put them up in the KF once Jerry gets them uploaded.

I took my G/F on a run, actually wan a 14.617 with her and a fun trunk :D This is the view head on from the passenger seat for those that have never dragged their Lexus before. 100.79 MPH

My fastest time 14.057...my 2nd run..it was downhill after that :( 14.2, 14.4, 14.6, then a 15 lol..... My battery only had 4 bars at the time....so I had more power but that was my best. It was cooler at the time...

I won because 2 faster cars broke. 2nd place had never been i a race and the 3rd place guy had never bee to a dragstrip. Thats why you race because you never kow whats going to happen. Thanks to Christy and the rest of the group that put this together

The track also screwed up and made me race you second race instead of one of the stangs, like I should of :p

I'm just happy I was able to run such a good time.. I really thought I would get 10's out of the car but They seemed to be just out of reach without using some better fuel. Guess I can live with an 11.3

That was a clean Chevelle. Not really a big Chevy guy here but I've always liked the Chevelle's and Nova's.

Was that your buddy in the white RSX? If so tell him he needs to learn how to fucking drive. Mother fucker bumped me in the damn staging lanes trying to back up without looking! Who the hell puts their car in reverse without looking before backing up?!?! FUCK!

And I only ask because I think you were right next to him when he backed into me. You two were trying to get out of lanes 7 and 8 because you weren't trying to qualify for the Quick 8.

First time I saw that Hybrid Lex run It took me a second or two to figure out why in the hell I couldnt hear it. My first thought was Wow that thing has one hell of an exhaust on it!!! Then it hit me. Yep I'm a moron.

lol, it is a different experience....I'm driving around trying to charge up the batteries after the drag :D

Hopefully when they do this in the spring more people will attend. Even if you dont race its still great to TNT and see how everyone elses car runs on the same track surface and temps.

I wish I wouldnt have gotten lazy. I could have got some more out of my tune but i was just worried about the 60' for the race part of the day. I didnt want to redlight so I just waited for everyone to move before I did. The GTR actually get a decent light.

I gotta do some more editing. I got a vid that had all the MCE members passes I taped so there is hardly any import runs in it. Ill do another in a few...waiting for an HD version to finish

thanks!!! Gastroker was there but that yoke broke. He said he was gonna forget trying to make that work...take some time away from the track and get his car straight for spring. Clark could have given me a good race as well but someone told me he doesnt like to race on radials. Hopefully the spring event will be a big turnout.

It is an 11 and a half second car, not any faster.

LOL. Just have that machine out in the spring2010 remember this is IMPORTAtl you may end up sell'n your v8 and purchasing an IMPORT. After the RX3 comes out for a stretch... lol

Im glad Mr.Strocker is bowing out till he gets the weak links fixed. I'm tired of hearing about a break and I'm sure he's tired of fixing things. I would like to see all of GA's finest cars (import or domestic)out for a round up...

The last imports vs domestics race i went to we won 9-1 so no import for me anytime soon :) I have never doubted the speed of the imports....look at Titan in 10.5

LOL.. Yeah that theory is true for the most part.... But Its also has alot to do with R&D and building parts that can handle the serious power. If you really look at my car..... I looks like an import and has the import heart(rotary). but the rest of the parts are from the V8 industry. V8s have been drag racing before you or I were born. The import world is borrowing the V8's designs and running with the best. The Underdog wins everytime

Guess what... I drive a tahoe on 22's my next vehicle will be the new 09cadi cts-v. when the wife's car is paid.
Im not talking about one or the other industry. Im just stating that the import family is borrowing stronger parts to run on the track. If you dont think you need that QA1 shock setup or that 9" rearend spool or the Aeromotive pump to run fast your not running fast enough. Lets not get into transmissions..... g-force/liberty/power glide......

Im glad Mr.Stroker is bowing out till he gets the weak links fixed. I'm tired of hearing about a break and I'm sure he's tired of fixing things. I would like to see all of GA's finest cars (import or domestic)out for a round up...

The drivetrain will come back bulletproof next year...well... as bulletproof as you can make an AWD drivetrain. :crazy:

Who is telling you the d/train will be even close to bulletproof? Something is got to be the weak link. Now out of the two evils(engine or tranny) which one is cheaper? Maybe if they use the metal that Logan "xMen" is made of.:goodjob: Just make that car a rear wheel drive and then just worry about staying on the ground.

Dude that shit got me and my peoples "rotary" wanting to up the game for that reason. The point I'm saying is the all wheeldrive is good for... Street/ rally racing/ or SCCA stuff. Thats to much weight trasfer and shock on that little yoke. John force aint building allwheel drive funnycars.

Car came with no motor. Built the subframe/trans mount/torque arm/etc myself. Yes, I believe it was worth it :)

LS1 motor. GT45 Turbo. 456 RWHP untuned with stock injectors, tires spinning @ 8 psi.

Ran an 11.35 @ 123.7 mph tuned, bigger injectors, @ 12 psi

At your horsepower the 8.8 is a ticking timebomb. 9 inch all the way!!!

The 9 inch takes more to turn it due to rotational mass, but with the added strength you will actually gain due to the rigidity and it doesn't flex like the 8.8 so therefore it doesn't bind up as much. Hopefully that all comes out like I had planned in my head!

There is a few articles on the Web where I think it was Hotrod that did dynos where they swapped out the 8.8, 10 bolt, 12 bolt, and 9 inch in a car to see exactly what you gained, and what you lost between all of the axles. It's a good read.


And Incon, What all do you have done to your 12 bolt? Have you welded your axle tubes or put in a brace of some type?

I can't believe how your car gets out of the hole and continues to pull the whole way down the track. It blew my mind the first time I saw it run the other day. That things a beast.

Now there are Toyota truck rears and import rears that are proven to hold up as well. Lets play with gear ratios and spools, how do we want the power going down the track?

Mikes car shouldnt require a 9" with that weight. I know he is making over 1k hp but I aint too far behind at 3960# and 147mph. Whats the cost involved to put a ford rear into the eclipse and convert to rear wheel drive? what gearing does he have now...it seems numerically high

Wow. well dealing with my cars(imports). I always thought it was about the weight the power(hp/tq) and the make up of the car's driving style. I'm sure that the gears on an import are very high compared to domestic car. But then when we pick our ratios we know what kind of track we are driving i.e. (8th ; 1320 or street). Take my car everyone knows that the rotary revs high even at stock trim. When built I can take my motor up to 13k easy. So my gears in my car for the track are 5.29. Whats the tranny ratios? Whats the tire size? You have to be a damn engineer to dial in a perfect car. No he doesn't need a 9" hell i'm making 4digits also but I don't weight as much either.

Damn your actually running an 8.8, I thought you were reffering to 12 bolt as an 8.8, which I guess is technically true.

Did you do the 9 inch ends yourself or send it in to have it done? I was thinking about going this route on my 8.8 but haven't actually ran into anyone that has done that yet.

My gearing is 3.55. I can't change the gearing in AWD platform because I'd have to change the front diff as well. And guess what, no one makes different ratios for the front diff. (The only option is a 3.9x ratio out of an old EVO III, but at the end of the day, that's still stock parts...no thanks)I'm not going RWD, way too much money to convert the engine direction and chassis fabrication. Many AWD cars are in the low 8's and 7's just by changing the rearend to a Ford platform. An 8.8 should be plenty strong enough. You have to remember that eventhough I make 1000+ hp, its only about 600 ft pounds of torque. Couple that with the 50/50 power split and I'm realisticly only putting about 300 ft pounds to the rear wheels. Another thing to consider is my power & torque curves are much more linear than a V8. Meaning I don't shoot out of the hole on full power like a V8 can, my power continues to build as it moves down the track. Now, I do have the ability to load up the drivetrain at the line with my staging brake and create some extra torque, but its still nothing like a V8. Lets say that I managed to create enough load on the launch to put all 400 ft pounds to the real wheels, that's still shouldn't be enough to upset an 8.8 rear.

If you change the rear into a 8.8 you would then have to find the right gear ratio so that it doesn't over gear the front ratios:thinking:. Have you played with the tranny ratios yet? It think the tranny choice can't handle the power or the 50/50 split combo. The yoke is small and not as beefy as the domestic options.
I'm not an expert nor a engineer but I know instead of changing turbos, rearends or 150shot off the line try going with other gears in the trans..:rolleyes:

The tranny has been proven to 7.7 at 196 mph with a Ford 8.8 rearend. The tranny is the only thing in the car that doesn't break (knock on wood). The transfer case is the weak point, not the tranny.

Nicks Evo has a larger output shaft and larger yoke than my DSM....that's not the problem though. The problem was the weld on the yoke of my particular driveshaft. I never broker a stock driveshaft. It wasn't until I "upgraded" to this othe driveshaft that I started having problems.
I've cut plently of 1.50 60 ft's with my current setup and on a stock driveshaft. I've been trying to get it down in the 1.3's where it belongs. I've done alot of 2 step changes, loaded the car less, loaded the car more, stiffened the suspension, softened the suspension, etc....If you've ever seen me at the track (and not break on the first pass) you would have seen that sometimes the car bogs, and then sometimes its spins too much. That's me trying to find the sweet spot. My car really should be cutting better 60 fts than 1.5's. I really can't explain why I haven't been able to do it yet. I've actually cut 1.4's on my old seteup from 3 yrs ago, but it was an easier beast to harness at that time. It will come together. Like you stated, I'm going to try and turn the boost down even more out of the hole.

The 8.8 rearends are available in 3.55 gear ratios....so over running the front diff isn't an issue.

My plan is to upgrade the transfer case to a unit that has a larger output shaft that accepts a larger yoke, and possibly change the rearend. Those are the 2 weak points on the car right now.

I know the folks with the same car aren't even close in HP but are getting down the track faster and not breaking. Its all constructive and I know you got a answer for every issue. Clark could have given me a good race as well but someone told me he doesnt like to race on radials. Hopefully the spring event will be a big turnout.

umm. You watched me race last year @ Steele on radials. Car was running consistent low 9's and 1.4 60ft's on radials. I think you were having converter issues or something that day. I'll be running on radials this weekend.

Clark I think it was Blair that told me that about radials 2 weeks ago. I saw you run one event on radials where you were in the 9.5-9.6 range. I dont think I can outrun you, just that it would be a good race. 2nd place Sunday was an 11.7 sec car so even if you beat me by .4 it would have been a much better race. At the steele event last year the tq converter to flywheel bolts came loose....I only made one pass as I was really there to watch you guys get down. Dont get your nipples in a twist...I still know my place in the food chain ;)

Please everyone lets give Mr.Gastroker the thanks he deserves.... Its only a change thats been asked two years in a row. Other folks govern the PRO classes by chassis style i.e. full frame(streetcars) 3/4 or full tube chassis cars; tire size or limiting power adders. Ahh bro don't get emotional on me(A tear falls). Now the governed issue by safety wasn't rather if the car was altered due to chassis(3/4; 1/2 or full tube). The issue was the wheelie bar and if it touched the ground the driver was eliminated. Well If you have a car at low boost goes skyward....wheelie bars are a must.... Take some time to watch some import pro mod cars its so exciting.:camera: oh yeah where is my vid?

Since you've been in the rule changing business lately.... Going over the Import showdown rules you may want to adjust the rules to fit your vehicle also. If I read correctly you can't enter anything but Showdown due to your sexy side exit exhaust(infront of the tire) your lexan hatch and your Tranny choice(AWD or street tire class). I may have read it wrong but we dont want you of all folks to fall short of rules.

Just pointing that out cause we are Friends and all. :rolleyes:
