World's Slowest Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R: Rear-Engine VW Powered

1. Known as the Nissan Skyline GT-R buggy, this car has a rediculous high-water stance since the car was specifically built to have a high clearance and be able to make it down a stair case. It was used in the scene where Paul Walker took the staircase shortcut in the movie.

For those who keep asking "why?" remember its a movie car. In the movie industry they dont care. The car was probably a total loss with the frame rails destroyed at one point. Its much cheaper for them to buy that car for like $1000 and put a $100 VW motor in it and fab the brackets and shit than find a real R-34 and then do the needed mods.

Its like when you see a "'57 Chevy Bel-Air" that has been prostreeted. Do you think someone in their right mind would tub to hell an original Bel-Air? How about remove the matching numbers fuel injected small block for a 908ci 8-71 supercharged monster?? No. It started the project as a rust bucket 110 model that no one cared for.

they probably did it for weight. if the Rb in there the car would have nose dived down the stairs. So they put a lightweight motor in the back of the car to keep it balanced in teh air.

It was for the staircase scene. It's not unusal for a studio to build cars for a specfic reason. Plus this is a kaizo not a real skyline a good replica tho lol

And...it's called Continuity. They have a couple of people on the set full time JUST to make sure shit lines up like that. That director said. "I want a real Skyline to go down those stairs because the audience will pick out a kit car in a heartbeat, build me one that will go down those stairs without falling apart" And guess what he got? Movie Magic. Cause I bet everyone of you all bitching would be the first ones to point out a fake kitted ass Honda going down those stairs.

And all you bitching that it's one more reason to hate F&F, the Import scene....and Skylines in general would't be half what they are in America without that movie. I agree, the RB swapped Mustang was definitely weaksauce of the highest order. They also used a VW R32 in one of the movies and took out the front driveshaft to make it RWD. The people making these movies are goobers, really.
