Motorsport Nationals update

So I just got off teh phone with some that is at MSN and he said it a bullshit event. These are the details that were given to me. if your car is not in the pro or wild class they don't give a shit about you. All pro and wild vehicles are inside the rest of the gurus are outside. According the infomant there are only about 200 hunderd vehicle that showed up. The ones that are out side are in the pouring rain. and the parking surface is now MUD. They are supposed to have 30 judges and noone outside has been judged yet. That sounds like a great way to spend 65 dollars. lol

I saw video of the MSN's from the inside of the track, one of the garage's was full of damn Nascar race cars. The outdoor part was about barren, except for a big group of big rigs in the show lol. There were less nice cars at MSN than at Tunerfest. The owner of Nopi was also very happy to see the turnout of MSN to be a flop. The video of the entire MSN seriously is about 2 minutes long. NOPI is a much better car show series, and has always had a much better stigma attached to it, one that people have driven cross country for years to attend, and ones that I love to travel around the SE to go to to party, have a good time, and meet new people in the scene. It's unfortunate the circumstances of the NOPI car show series of last year with the raining out of a majority of events and poor attendance. It's also unfortunate that I drove 2 hours last year to go to the MSN's.:no:

NOPI is a much better car show series, and has always had a much better stigma attached to it, one that people have driven cross country for years to attend,

This "stigma" that you speak of was not a good one. People came from all over just to socialize and show off their cars. Only good thing I always heard about NOPI was that they made it happen. The show part was never held in high regards (except by the people that won).

I'm glad, though, that IA stepped up. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have supported this event and went. Later, QD.

WOAH WOAH WOAH, Dont let NOPI use the Rain out and poor attendance card for last years epic failure to their series. It is not the case at all. I refuse to believe all of that shit after they took money from all the sponsors. In any type of event series like this...you don't know until the end of the season whether you lost your ass or actually made something or broke even. They didn't even make it half way through.

I will definitely agree with you spoolin. Alot of people got screwed. Its the people on IA and other forums and groups that make it happen with out the people no organization can make it. TFS turned out to be good and i have i have to give to our local sponsors they stepped up to the plate and made it happen. Got to give a big shout out to Mainstream for allowing this to happen at their shop. Hell at that all of our sponsors. Companies like NOPI cant survive without us.

Yes, I do believe that whatever name would have been on the banner, the results would have been the same.

The local sponsors are what made this show, and it was fun(-rain). Do I believe that NOPI made this show a success; no. Do I believe they had forgotten what made them popular in the first place and made them the giant series they turned into; yes. They had gotten so big that their presence was to look down on the smaller local sponsors. But when you piss the bottom, largest part of the scene off, it doesn't help when they don't show up to support your series. I believe they need to respect everyone who enters their shows and buys from them the same, because in the end they are where the money comes from in the end like you said.

they screwed me last year so members/supporters are excited to see the epic FAIL they have seen at MSN compared to the epic WIN we had yesterday in the rain. you come to atlanta screw grassroots enthusiasts and don't think you will get backlash you are nutz.


i have to agree w/ most comments made about nopi - there is alot of bad blood there w/ what happened last year, but i do have to give mark props for helping us out; getting the word out, bringing out the girls, booth, etc... NOPI/NOS looked good. we were able to do what we did w/ local resources and help from friends of IA. the scene is still strong in ATL.

I feel this is something we need to keep doing and maybe some of these big sponsors will realize were they went wrong. They made it to the top by using people like us. Now they realize they still need us. Its like our economy corporations stompped out the mom and pops businesses and then when they started collapsing they wanted our help. WE may not have all the money and big names but we are the heart of scene and without us they are nothing. This how we stay strong by sticking together.

no against a HUGE NATIONAL EVENT - when you rent a track that cost 50-100k you better be ready to bring 10,000's of people. NOPI could do this once again with the right help from enthusiasts here in Atlanta and the rest of the Southeast.

Well this thread got my curiosity to see if it was accurate. Told my G/F lets take a ride and we drove right in the tunnel into the show. It clearly was wrapping up and most were packed or packing but there still was a decent number of cars there.

We walked around the paddocks and I bumped into a couple people I knew including one of my buds that drove from AL as he has a highly modified Lexus GS and is a part of Elite.

I am not going to compare the two but I'm glad I drove in for free and got to check it out.

I think its Sad also but at least in the motorcycle scene and muscle car scene things like this wouldn't happen. I didnt even go to TFS!:( But I would not go back to a MSN event, and there was no influence involved. I always felt like it wasnt for the car enthusiast. It always came down to the money, with every booth in that show. Personally there are some people who like to go show a car and chat with other car enthusiast and not have to worry about burning a hole in their pocket.

someone mentioned some of the old events here...

HIN came here but picked some wrong venues and due to $$$ Atlanta was just too expensive to support their event at the time. I haven't talked to the guys there in a while but that was the problem when they were here. Atlanta venues are just too costly and getting Atlanta Scene to support events like that has been difficult.

NOPI is a whole other issue... lots of people got burned by them last year. It is unfortunate for everyone involved that this happened b/c NOPI Nats like it or not was a staple in Atlanta Automotive History. It will be very difficult to get that going again but I think it could be done if NOPI rebuids those burned bridges. Obviously their help with us was difficult for us to take on as we have people on both sides w/ different opinions on this but Mark helped us out quite a bit this year and for that I appreciate it.

There are been many events come and go in Atlanta, and I like supporting locals and large events that support forums like ours. Enthusiasts are who've built this scene and we will ALWAYS control it. :yes:
