Scenario:

Let's say you're renting a room in a house, a nice comfy place, nice and clean and everything works etc.

Lets say that you're on prescription drugs that make you feel GREAT but impairs your ability to do..hmmm... anything.

Lets say one day you're headed towards your room but happen to lose your balance (do to the prescription drugs) and just happen to ummm..kinda...FALL DOWN A FULL FLIGHT OF STAIRS.

Would you sue?

I'm fully aware of the legalities...answer the poll.

Suing is one thing, Winning is another.

Anything that happens in a house you own - ANYTHING - is a potential suit REGARDLESS OF FAULT!

Any accident is YOUR responsibility!!!

Remember that.

It would be my fault for taking the fall down the stairs, I mean the land lord can't magically move them knowing you're about to drop.

nope I would not sue. Why? Look at the description of the pill and see what it says.

Jecht

No, it was your own fault for falling down the stairs. You'll notice that it will be the educated or at least somewhat intelligent people who say no.

Yes let's say I presumably in an incoherent state fell down a flight of stairs... you aren't asking the right questions, its not that it would be my fault for irresponsibly taking prescription medication and not taking into consideration the effect these pills would have on me...

Its why the fuck are there stairs there, and why there fuck are there stairs, period. Stairs suck and I would passionately sue the shit out of whoever invented stairs in order to pay for my shattered ego with monetary damages. I mean you have to use all that energy to walk up and down, up and down, without ever really going anywhere. We live in the 21st fucking century and I want a teleportation device. End.

Hell no. Like most people said already, I knew that my meds impaired everything, so I shoulda been more conscious in my decision making.

good luck with that

You can be sued, and you will probably lose, if someone comes into your yard without permission, jumps the fence around your pool, pulls back a solar cover, then proceeds to drown in the pool.

You can only sue if there is proven "neglect" from the landlord.. So if you want to waste your money trying to sue, you can.. But the point of suing is to get free money.. Not throw away money..

Kevykev

Not so my friend, If you get hurt while on someone's premise (even if YOU hurt YOURSELF), you can file a claim against their homeowners policy - Not 100% the same as suing but it still enables you to recover damages.

That the part that I was really worried about. Looks like I'm gonna be fine but there always the "statute" to worry about

Hope no one gets any ideas form this thread.....

Anything is possible in America. If you can sue someone for breaking into their house and getting hurt while you were trying to steal whatever the fuck they had.

I like an escalator because an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. There would never be an escalator temporarily out of order sign, only an escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience. We apologize that you can STILL get up there....

And no, waste of time and money to me.
