so i blew a head gasket on my 97 integra( B18b1) it was smoking pretty bad and dripping water out from the tail pipe.

i buy a new head gasket and replace a new one.
i tight it up all bolt 15LB then 35LB then 45LB

everything seen to go very smooth ..

after all part and cover is back on. i try to start the engine, it making a very load clicking nosie.
the nosie seem like it coming from the spring.

anyone encounter with this problem before and know how to fix it??

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________________________________--
okay, Let me start over...i had change a new head gasket and reinstalled everything, and last night i had retight the headbolt to 61lb..... when i try to start the engine i can hear it TRYING (key word) to start but it dont turn on.. yall know what im talking about right?

and i readjust the valve to .017 on the intake side and .020 on the exhaust side. the clicking are gone now after i did that.

BUT I CAN'T GET THE ENGINE TO TURN ON YOU THNK IT SOME GROUNDI THEN ADDED AN EXTRA GROUND TO THE VALVE COVER AND IT STILL DONT RUN.

IT SOUND LIKE IM OUT OF GAS. CAN ANY BODY HELP ME WIT THIS?

no im not trying to get post count

yea i was gonna say that u were a little light on those head stud tq's.

Try tightening to 61 ft lbs then adjust the valves

from what you said here it sounds alot like the starter clicking. If it didnt turn over then you would have never heard your valves.

hold on hold on let take a few steps back here get a few things clear. what your saying isnt making since. u said its clicking from the spring but then u said it will not start.

i tight it up all bolt 15LB then 35LB then 45LB

that needs to be 61lbs

after all part and cover is back on. i try to start the engine, it making a very load clicking nosie.
did the car ever start. where was the clicking noise coming from. location or region of the motor.

First...ur valve adjustments are WAY out
second.. an extra ground to your VC isn't going to change a thing
third...have you tried jumping the car?
Fourth...we dont care about your post count as long as we can read it and understand it

obd1 and obd2 is very diff. i jus used a B16. it fit, but u can only bolt in 1 bolt. i jus put it in to see if it cranked or not. unless u rebuilt it.

There was a ground on the VC before so i try it on another location...
it don't hurt to try

third...have you tried jumping the car?

No not yet.. i live on a hill and it going to be a bitch to get it back up there if the car don't start.

G/l man...i wasnt trying to be a dick or nothin...the reason you don't hear clicking anymore is b/c the clearance on your valves is so big now, they don't even get close...it should be like .008 and .011...u are almost double that. Don't go by what some random on youtube is doin...go by what Honda says:goodjob:

take that useless info elsewhere. ive done 100+ honda head gaskets, and reused every set of headbolts, and guess what? not one problem. this is where mechanics and internet specialists seperate.

whats that

people that actually work on cars for a living, and the few random IA users who pop in with useless myths to throw into the mix, the general tech area should be the area where the 2 seperate and the random crap goes somewhere else.

Don't know if anybody wrote on this but I thought head bolts are reusable..I always thought that when the motor over heats that's when it messes with the bolts or something like that...could be wrong, correct me if i'm wrong.

First you need to get everything back in spec. Then find out if got fuel and spark. No and no spark = No Start or losse connection somewhere.

i know you do alot, i mean how many times have you replaced the headbolts?
mainly because i really cant afford a come back. i get new bolts. i can have a car come back over any reason at all. just bad for business so i replace everything.
