uh... lets see i was driving on the highway i was in 5th gear going about 60. i put my car in neutral and slowed down to like 40, and then i put my car in 4th, but when i stepped on the gas my car wasn't moving my motor was just revving. is this my clutch or do i need a new tranny and clutch?

its a 240sx btw. s13.

what does your pedal feel like.

also will it engage any of the gear

i notice you said you put it in gear but it wont move, just revv.. could be a burnt out clutch. if somehow it'll catch, when your moving, stump on the gas peddle, if the rpm jumps up then back down and catch than its your clutch for sure. if im right, when ur tranny is dead, you cant put it into gear, meaning it dont pop in

More detail? Usually if its clutch it just doesnt stop working it will gradually go out. Not impossible but not likely. If the shifter fork broke or bent or came loose then it would shift into postion but not engage the gear.

Similar thing happend to me. 1 way to find out if its ur clutch is do wat blue_gt said. U can start at a stop , put it in 1st and try to take off. If it takes a little bit for your car to start moving its your clutch. Also like they said above me, when u step on the gas it should rev up high then go back down when the clutch catches. Has your clutch been feeling wierd lately? Mine starting slipping and about 2 days later my car could barely move in 1st.

uhh the clutch was soft, the car still starts and when i put it in 1st and try to go it just won't go, the motor just revs, nothings catching so im thinking it's just the clutch.

Most likely the clutch disc.

The splines in my disc went bald so it wouldn't grab at all so it NEVER moved.
