Of all topics to discuss in the Atlanta area, but who out here surfs? And I don't mean who has surfed a couple of times before. I mean who gets out here and surfs consistently now or used to get out and do it?
I used to go all up and down the Florida coast back in the mid 80s to the early 90s bodyboarding. Mainly I hit the Melbourne/Sebastian area because of it's constant high breaking waves and dependable sets.
I went last weekend and have reinvigorated myself into getting back into it.
This does NOT include skiing and wakeboarding. I mean surfboard and body boarding.
Below is a pic of the board I use. And myself on a crappy run last weekend with a hotel rented body board. Later, QD.

ive been to like 10 beaches this year, i do a lot of boogie boarding or "skin boarding" (if i dont have a board).
Its a ton of fun, this past weekend i was at Gulf Shores and the waves were decent.
Im from Hawaii, and i cant surf for shit
im very big into skin boarding, started getting into it when we went on family vacations and now me and my friends try and plan trip every month or so..never got the chance to surf even though i think it would be a pretty nice experience....by the way love the board

i guess he does i always interpreted skim boarding as the ridin of a wave that crashs on the beach on your feet :goodjob:

There is skim boarding where you ride a real thin board that looks like a guitar pick down the shoreline. Later, QD.

I spend the majority of my summers surfing down in Florida. Waves here are weak, but its the closest place to go.

I have done bodysurfing, boogeyboarding, and some surfing. When I went to Jacksonville FL. a while back me and a buddy we were surfing so long we ended up miles down the beach from the constant pull moving along the beach lol. We were both like WTF how we get down here lol.

When i lived on merritt island i surfed everyday!!! Started out on a borrowed 6'2" board and it was hard as hell to get good...Eventually i started gettingf the hang of it after many many many wipeouts. Such a good stress reliever
Went to Cocoa Beach everyday but would frequent Melbourne and Sebastian inlet. That is definately the one thing i miss about living in FL!

I want to go to the Wrightsville area and do it. I've heard it's a good spot. Later, QD.

i def recommend it man... the spot to the right of the pier is always slammed with surfers. watch out tho. ive heard stories of guys fighting over waves there. literally going on the beach and throwing down because sumone "stole" their wave. but most of the guys are pretty cool and waves are nice most days.

I live 1 minute from wrightsville beach. I surf every waking second I get, hurricane season finally came and we had some decent 10-12 footers. God it would take a bit and walk to the garage to name my boards, by my 2 fave are my 6'1" al merrick and my 5'5" fish board.

I like boogie boards better, but this is ok. I pretty much stand on it. That board is kind of long. Almost 5' so it's kind of like a small surfboard. Later, QD.

Mostly around Jacksonville and Saint Augustine, since we have a condo there.
This is my favorite board. Its beaten up and all but never failed me. Its right at seven feet, I can't remember exactly. I also have a couple of long boards. Those don't fit in my room though so this one gets to stay here. lol
