Racism: What's been bothering me....(can the WL handle this?)

I know for a fact that this subject is, at one time or another, been on someone's mind. I don't know if this is the right place to talk about this, but I will just get to the point.

The issue here is simple, I have a problem with wondering what is racism, and in today's society, what kind of race or people are really racists.

I mean, I am an asian-american and I do not have any hate or feel indifference from another person of another race. Maybe just the appearance and the cultural backgrounds, but other then that I will talk, associate, date, and do business with anyone.

However, recently I have been noticing and reading different articles concerning this subject. I concluded that there are racists from every race and not just Whites or Caucasians. Ironically, there are more public acts of racism from other group of minorities.

Let me hear from you guys about this and we all can discuss it in a mature manner.

Certain things have come about through necessity, others through the advent of special interest groups that exploit those who they "represent" for various reasons.

Ultimately, man is not conditioned to live in harmony, as history has shown time and time again. This translates into the fact that racism, prejudice, and any kind of discord based on superficial reasons will always exist.

I agree with you about the South African turned African American thing though. The reason I said that was because a few years back there was some drama that got created because a white kid from South Africa marked on one of his tests for school that he was African American. We can't sweep it under a rug because it happened. Example...my great grandmother is 104 years old. Every time I see her she reminds me of how happy she is I'm doing what I'm doing, because when she was my age she couldn't do HALF of what I do. So when I have kids I will let them know where we (as a people) were and where we are now. I see nothing wrong with that. It's not reliving...it's awareness.

But again, you're shifting the focus of my post into a direction that it was not headed in. We're talking about racism now and why it still exists, not about teaching children about it.
