ahh yes, finally the beginning of the 09 NFL season is here. just a few of my predictions.

1. The atlanta falcons will probably miss the playoffs- yes I said it, yours truly will probably miss the playoffs thanks to that good ol defense.

2. The detroit lions will win at least 5- lol just one win will be good..i guess.

3. The patriots will "not" win the superbowl, because the chargers will- uh huh, the chargers will down the patriots in the AFC title game.

4. The vikings will represent the NFC in the superbowl, if brett stays healthy- brett favre is the man. the NFC title game will be the eagles vs. vikes.

5. the cowboys will miss the playoffs, again.

6. The broncos will realize that they made a horrible mistake letting cutler go- i mean come on whodafawk is orton?

Hahaha, you're just as bad as ESPN thinking Brett Favre makes the Vikings a legit Super Bowl contender.

Here are some of my predictions.

1. Byron Leftwich will start all 16 games for the Bucs, but they will not make the playoffs.

2. The 3 headed RB corps of Earnest Graham, Cadillac Williams, and Derrick Ward will turn into a Graham/Williams duo that will ruin defenses.

3. The New York Giants will win the NFC East, and will be Super Bowl champions again IF they demote Hixon and use Manningham, Moss, and Nicks more.

4. The Falcons will make the playoffs, and win the NFC South, but Matt Ryan will not look as good. Neither will Michael Turner. Roddy White will be the most effective offensenive weapon.

5. The Patriots will not be in the Super Bowl from the AFC. The AFC Super Bowl team will be the Pittsburgh Steelers once again.

6. Brett Favre will not start all the games this season, Tavaris Jackson will be playing IF he is not traded. If so, you will see Rosenfels in there.

7. The Bills will be a better team with TO. Trent Edwards will dish it out enough to make him happy, and when Lynch comes back the offense will be killer.

8. Chad Johnson will be the best receiver on the Bengals, and make everyone forgot about TJ.

9. The Seahawks, WITH TJ, and a healthy Hasslebeck will be a playoff team. Julius Jones and Edgerrin James will be a powerful RB combo.

10. And finally, Joe Flacco will hit a slump, and the Ravens D will show their age and the Ravens will not make the playoffs.

I could keep going and make predicitions for each team. I'm actually tempted to edit this and do it tomorrow, but there are my versions of what will happen this season.

Flacco might hit a wall this year but that will be because of the lack of rweceivers in BMore.

uh no, to a certain degree. the giants will not win the superbowl, just because the falcons add a pro bowl TE doesnt make everything better, so you say the bucs wont make the playoffs, but then you say there running attack will ruin defensive units? i would have to believe that they would make the playoffs if their running attack ruins defenses. Flacco will probably do better this year.

Flacco is not that great of a QB. He had a good year by being mistake free because they had him hand the ball off alot and make small plays.

The Bucs can have a stellar running game, but with a bad defense they won't be a playoff team.

I mentioned nothing about the TE for the Falcons, that was you.

And the Giants defense is incredible, their running game is spectacular, and the young WR corps is going to baffle opponents secondaries.

Flacco's going to have a good year because of Ray Rice. Who can run the ball as well as catch it out of the back field.

Chad Johnson will be the 2nd best WR on the Bengals. Chris Henry has looked great.

Josh Freeman will be starting by week 8 for the Bucs because of injuries to Leftwich, how you think he can play a full season is laughable.

The playoff teams will be San Diego, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, New England, Jacksonville, and Baltimore from the AFC.

Green Bay, Atlanta, Seattle, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and New York from the NFC.

Super bowl of New England vs Philadelphia

Wade Phillips gets fired after Dallas starts off 4-4. Gary Kubiak gets fired after the Texans start off 3-6.

Aaron Rodgers wins the MVP. The vikings go 0-2 against the Packers.

The packers 3-4 defense rapes all.

The only thing I have questions about with San Diego is if they can win in Foxboro. Which they would have to. New England will have the best record in the AFC especially if San Diego loses Merriman for any point for time. Which who knows if they will now it has come up that he beat up Tila Tequila.

I could easily see Green Bay making it into the playoffs. Their D is going to be a lot better, Aaron Rodgers has the good back, good WR, and now a good young pass catching TE. They are going to be dangerous.

Flacco having a good year and Rice having a good year is funny to me. It won't happen like that.

Johnson will be better than Henry hands down, and that will be shown all year. The superior WR will emerge in CJ.

Why is Leftwich laughable? He hasn't played a full season in a while, but has filled in while playing for ATL and Pitt and done wonderful and incurred no injuries during his time while playing. Injuries won't be an issue, and Freeman is terrible. Not sure who you were watching. Johnson has a better chance to start than Freeman if anything did happen.

I love the Super Bowl prediction. Don't sound too much like every years sports guys picks. Hahaha, NE and Phi, of course.

Vick will not make Philly better. And NE will not go to the Super Bowl.

Seattle making the playoffs is very very doubtful to me.

Saints still dont have a D.
Tampa is horrid.
Panthers have a very large question at QB.
I think the Falcons can with the South this year.

Steelers vs. Vikings is my call. Although Its close between Philly and Vikes.

Both saints D ends will be suspended for 4 games, and the Falcons have a better LB and DL to hide the Defensive backfield's short comings. Falcons can shoot it out with anyone if needed. The Falcons D is better than the saints and the panthers passing game will lack.

With a healthy hasselback, solid WRs, a good TE, and running backs Seattle pretty much has it on lockdown.

Actually have to wait until the end of the day for your predictions, Matt. We do know a few of yours are off. Atlanta, Seattle and New York are not in. Baltimore and Jacksonville are not in. Pittsburgh is holding out. Pretty ugly still. your Super Bowl picks are still intact, though.

IMO injuries didnt hurt the falcons as much as people claim. even with ryan and turner in the game, atlanta was getting to slow offensive starts, turner was not as much a factor compared to last year, and ryan didnt take pressure too well. too many missed opprotunities, cant wait to see what they decide to do in the offseason, and oh yeah, the ravens are in the playoffs!

I don't see anyone claiming injuries as the Falcons downfall. They were already struggling before the key injuries occurred. The defense, the offensive mishaps and the rest of the league's being keen to the Turner/Ryan combo is what kept them down.

If they can upgrade their defense and maybe grab an extra set of hands on the receiving corps and tighten everything together, I think they have a good team again. I think they have a decent backfield and an ok back up QB (Redmond didn't do that bad).

Winning these last three games was a testament to how they can be. The way they played without Ryan and Turner was also a great sign of depth. Later, QD.
