Hood latch

Anyone know how to open a hood without the latch on a 94 civic? The switch doesnt seem to work anymore, and when I pull the wire connecting to it with pliers, nothing happens? But when I took it to a mechanic a while back, he reached into the bumper and popped it somehow? anyone know how I can personally open it? or even fix it?

get a long pry bar flat head screw driver some of that nature. from the bottom of the car push up on the latch an it will pop the hood.
