For this picture I popped the hood to make the sentra feel better as last week it rained and I could not get any sleep as it weeped outside from mental abuse over the years. Mustangs came with small wheels, especially for the power they make. I think stock Terminator wheels are 8" in the rear? Anyway, traction is and always has been a huge weakness for Mustangs.

And $450 before being boosted???? You talking about built Mustangs? The GT 500 makes a bit more than 450rwhp stock, and not only is it boosted but I doubt that is what you are talking about. Other than that NO Mustang makes 450hp, and the only ones that are close are supercharged from the factory.

I remember the first day he put the slicks on and he didn't break the 12's, and he was on the IRS that day. It was shortly after he went 11.7, and it may have been on the old rearend as well.

Well, here's my take. Mike just wants to run for fun. He thought money would make it worth your while to come run for fun. It's not a callout so much as a chance to meet & do some runs just for the hell of it.

I'm sure mike will run you from a dig, run what you brung, no money or just gas/tire money. You'll also blow him away. So why not follow up that run with a 2nd run with a little bit of a handicap?

Just run him and get it over with.

I actually can't remember either.

I remember the first day he put the slicks on and he didn't break the 12's, and he was on the IRS that day. It was shortly after he went 11.7, and it may have been on the old rearend as well.

By the way Smacked, my rear tires are almost bald and it's tradition (ok I've only done it once heh) for me to burn the last bit of those fuckers off with some standing burnouts at a drag strip. With what happened last time I ran at the track, I said I'd never go again....but I may make an exception when I get ready to get new tires, plus I'd like to see if I can launch better with the solid tranny mounts. I run mid - high 11's on street tires, so we may be a good run at the track.

I guess that's the difference between you and I, I'd just concede that it's a faster car and not bug him to do a silly race like that.

I've seen the tires he uses for normal driving, and I was also there one night when he tried to race (from a roll I believe) on them...and I KNOW they are completely useless.

I see your side of things, I just don't think it's really a "fair" thing to ask. If you were going from a roll, it would be different.....but from a dig, traction is absolutely vital. I think you are exagerrating the advantage he has from being RWD as well. I know RWD is a lot better than FWD, but the Terminators are not good at hooking from a stop. For one thing, EVERY Terminator you see has tires that are over 2" wider than stock. So if you are racing a Terminator with the stock rear wheels, he's completely fucked. Mustangs have pretty soft suspensions, as well as having a lot more front weight bias than say a Camaro does. They are iron blocks, DOHC (the heads are HUGE), plus they have the extra weight of the supercharger....that all makes the motor MUCH heavier than the aluminum small blocks that GM uses. On top of that, because of the supercharger, they have a LOT more torque than a N/A V8. So when you add all of this together, it makes for a pretty shitty platform to launch from.

I don't know you, but I do know there are a lot of pricks and ricers out there. There's a group of guys I typically hang out/race with, and we all have a good time together. One person with a shitty attitude can ruin that, so I'm a bit defensive about certain things....plus I'm not on a mission to go make new friends.

I don't know if you are legitimately uneducated about Mustangs, or if you are just playing dumb as a part of the "game" to talk someone into a race that you will win. More often that not, people just like to play dumb in an attempt to "innocently" drag someone into a race where they are at a disadvantage, usually doing so by playing down their own car.

You and I would probably get along just fine in person, but it's damn near impossible to pick up on someone's personality from online. I will make a comment about what he ran at the track. Maybe he did a 14.1@98mph, but that's not what the car is capable of. On the street, things happen quite a bit differently than at the track. If he was on any kind of street tire (even a drag radial), it's possible he will actually perform BETTER on the street. I can't hook for shit at the track, but seem fairly planted on the street. I know Smacked said he has a hard time getting really good grip on the streets with his slicks, even though they dead hook at the track. Of course, I usually roll race where traction and launch aren't a factor, and you see a closer resemblance to the full capability of the CAR than you do from a dig (where it's more the driver).

My guess is that Smacked would run the equivalent of a mid 12 AT BEST on the street...I'd also be willing to bet the CRX will do a little better on the street than he does at the track, if he's on drag radials (I'm not 100% on this, it's just a guess). I would also guess that going from slicks to normal street tires would literally cost Smacked about 1.5 seconds....and that's if he can actually feather the throttle well enough to have it hook.

Thing is, reducing someone's traction isn't a black/white cripple like say....not spraying NOS or using a pump gas tune over race gas. If someone is at the threshold of traction the whole race, they may use 1% too much throttle the whole time, and never grab traction and just spin and go nowhere. If they use 10% too little, then they'll hook better but be so ridiculously slow. When I was stock, I was racing my friend's Supra just for fun. He had about 630rwhp, over 150 more than I did (and with a FAR smaller gap in weight differences than Smacked and Vteckidd). We raced 4 times to very high speeds. Twice from a roll, twice from a dig. We went from a dig to 175mph. I beat him twice, and he beat me twice. I beat him from a dig one time, because he spun so bad and I got so far ahead, he couldn't even reel me in at 175mph. His car is MUCH faster than mine, but I still beat him because he didn't have tires on the car that night.

I've considered getting some chrome 17x10.5 stockers and throwing some 315 Hoosier DRs on them but every time I think about it the money goes somewhere else. Maybe one day.

I was on the street tires. Cars spins for a good 1-2 seconds in 2nd gear on a 40 hit. Wouldn't have chirped third because I didn't bang the gear very hard.
