Two teens could face reckless endangerment charges for a car accident at New York City's first municipal airport that landed both young men in the hospital.

NYPD investigators say the two 18-year-old men were driving at "a high rate of speed" at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. But investigators stopped short of saying that the teens were drag racing.

Nevertheless, the two cars, both Infinitis, collided and one of the vehicles flipped, cops said.

One of the men is in critical condition and the other is in serious condition at two area hospitals.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor.

The accident happened on a public road at Floyd Bennett Field, which is under control of the National Park Service.

Floyd Bennett Field holds a hallowed place in aviation history. It is the point of departure for various record breaking flights from Amelia Earhart to Howard Hughes.

by the way i didnt know IA was full of people that fucking walk on water, im sure everybody here at the age of 18 has done something stupid and most of us are lucky it didnt end up this bad. the kids are 18 years old for fucks sake, at that age nothing can stop you, people make mistakes and do stupid things, doesnt mean they should die because of it.

While I tend to agree, you have to be a complete Douchebag to think you are a professional racer, race on the street then the AIRPORT, then FAIL and total both cars and injure yourselves and the passengers.

Reminds me of the kids killed in the M5 at the airport in Florida.

In my honest opinion, just because one is legally an "adult", at 18, it does not make one so. Mental maturation does not happen until much later in life. Kids making kid mistakes that, like I previously stated, we all have partaken in, to some degree or another.

Thankfully, they did not harm themselves or others too badly.

Talking about giving your son/daughter a 300 hp car. It depends on the person. It is people like this that made me look like an idiot/get hated on when I was 16. I had a White G35 just like those. Not one single wreck. Yes I had speeding tickets, it happens. Right before my 18th birthday I was given a 400hp Corvette. Still no wrecks, no speeding tickets. Now I am in an even more powerful Corvette... guess what, no wrecks, no tickets. It all depends on the maturity of the driver and how well they can drive. I know accidents (wrecks happen, that is life), however this situation was no "accident".

Which is great. As you stated we have ALL done dumb stuff young but when you FAIL at doing dumb stuff, well, we have an issue.

Again I'm just glad they did it by themselves.

My additional 2 cents it will only get worse for kids. We now live in a "must have now" world, so parents buy cars. Even USED or OLDER cars today are more powerful/fast than exotics in the 1980s! The G35 came out in 2003, they are cheap now. Hell a V-6 Camry, Accord are very fast.

Kids with minimal driving experience get these cars and shit like this will happen more and more.

Hell Autotrader has TONS of fast cars for cheap now. EVos, STis, used BMWs, Lexus, Camaros, Mustangs.

Yes I know this, but 99% of the people on this site have done spirited driving. It could of happened but it didn't. This was not an accident in my eyes due to the fact that they were doing dumb stuff. An accident in my mind does not include street racing, drifting, or anything of that nature.

Edit: In no way was I saying that I was perfect driver. Just I don't see how this can happen, I know it can but it's like the saying goes "That will never happen to me".

In France, to get a license, it takes about 10,000$ + dollars and hundreds of hours of driver educations of actual driving in the street with instructors.. You can also expect to FAIL your first test..

Can I borrow your parents pls?! Just for say.....my 21st birthday?!?! :D lolol

All kids make dumb mistakes, these 2 are just some of the not so lucky ones. I really hope they are not twins though. That could about kill a mom having both of her children like that injured. You know that the parents are getting all over themself over something like this. I do agree that it is WAYYY too easy for kids to get license. I look back and I have been driving on the road since I was 14 with no accidents(that I was to blame), tickets, nothing and I am sooooo grateful of this b/c no child should be driving at that age alone. I think the GA law needs to be bumped up to 18 to even get to drive alone. I know it will make things a lil harder on the parents as far as getting the kids to places, but they had to do it the other part of the kids life. What is 2 more years?

I hope the teens recover from this and hope they have learned their lesson.

EDIT:
That was misleading. I read more and it was NOT the two "brothers" that were injured. It was one brother and his passenger. The other brother was not injured, as that was what I was thinking from looking at the car.

On another note.....I sure hope that their house doesnt look like the ones in the backgrouind of that pic. If so I wanna know what the heck their parents were doing buying 2 expensive cars like that for teens?!?!

...then I start questioning...were they truely even brotherS? lol

If I am not mistaken, they also have a real graduated license. You have a restriction on the size of your engine depending on your age. I love the thought of that and add in the fact of all this tree hugging poop about "saving" gas (studies show people with new cars drive more, looking at you cash for clunkers), it will help gas. But alas, daddy wants Susie Rotten Crotch in an SUV so she has more room for the gang bang and keg.

How can you blame the parents? The parents gave them them nice cars. That doesn't mean you have to do something stupid in them. It's 100% the kids fault.
