,,, and I'm still shaking from the initial shock of that just happening to me. I wasnt under it obviously or I wouldnt be typing this right now, but I was all up in the wheel well. Damage is unknown as of yet... Still in shock and taking a break.

thats why you always have a stand under the car at the same time, stupid to work under a car with a small rolling jack, being the only thing holding the car up!

If you look, you will see the stand under the car as well, the jack was there as extra support ;)

Jesus bro!!! I work at a shop, this is always a scare for us! I've had a car fall off the lift on me. 6 ft up.

was the jackstand just under the floorboard? there are jack points for a reason.

either way, it's a lesson learned, and i'm glad you're ok!

That thing looks to be way too far to the middle. I'd imagine it just pushed up that area from too much pressure. Always make sure you have the stands on the frame or something solid, I always take my wheels and slide under there too if the car isn't too high.

ScrapMetalDSM

Jackstand is to the right of the jack, Surprisingly, both jackstands are not poking through the floorboard. They were sitting under the frame of the car, and the car slipped off when I was trying to get the caliper bracket off the car. Wheels DEFINITELY go under the car next time.

Or if a little common sense was used, when a car falls off a jack, the Jack is used as a pivot point. Meaning, the car moved making it miss the jack stands.

Not an excuse to the OP though. You had the jack holding the car, and the stands there just in case the jack fell. The jack rolled, the stands wouldn't.

NO F.CKING WAY DAMN... That would be scary as sh!t lol. I have worked in auto shops for around 10 years or so lifting every kind of car out there almost and never had one fall yet lol. Sorry that happened and glad you werent under it.

To the original poster, you should never lift a car on a little jack on an uneven driveway like that. Though i have, but secured it well at the perfect lift point. You know what they say in mechanics "SAFETY FIRST!" Glad it didnt fall on ya dough.

The stands were holding the car, the jack was just still under there for a "just incase" scenario, which I am glad it was because it kep[ the car from actually landing on the ground. My jack is still wedged under there.

i would always use 2 jackstands in case it tries o lean to one side or not, even with a jackstand if the weight tilts to one side it will roll off.

Also, try puttin your tire/wheel under the car that usually helps too, glad you are ok

ScrapMetalDSM

To everyone that isnt reading the whole thread... the car WAS sitting ON the jackstandS. (I should have clarified in the first post) I was giving a little too much force of the caliper bracket bolt and the car gave way and fell off the stands. The car WAS in gear, but I should have used other safety precautions as well.

Lesson learned on my part.

ALTHOUGH I MADE AN LOL THREAD...THATS TRUE..AND I'M GUILTY OF NOT USING JACKSTANDS..BUT THE BIGGEST PRECAUTION OTHER THAN THE JACKSTANDS IS PUTTING SOMETHING LIKE A BRICK OR LIKE MIKE SAID THE TIRE IN FRONT OF ONE OF THE OTHER TIRES TO PREVENT IT FROM ROLLING

Not a good feeling when you or someone you know has that happen its funny you called him "scrappy." krissy (sn scrappy on here) had this happen to her a few years back and wasnt so lucky. i'm sure if she sees this, she'll post her pics as to what COULD'VE happened.

OP glad ur aight man. sometimes people dont take an automobile as seriously as tehy should. i, myself, am also guilty of it, but we need not be lazy when doing automotive work. tends to lead to disaster when corners are cut.

ive had the jack slip on me once i was changing the rear tire on my uncles 300zx and the jack slipped and well almost all my fingers got stuck between the tire and edge of the fender. i ended up getting my index finger joint crushed and the others were fine lucky. my finger is still flat from that.

This happened to my friend we had put a wheel under his car then pulled it out to show to another friend, Then his mom walked out and saw that he was using a scissor jack and said shouldn't you have a wheel under that? We said oshit and put the wheel back under it. About 3 minutes later the car fell off the jack and onto the wheel. My friends knee was under the brake rotor and the car was stopped just inches before it would've crushed it.
