I want to have as much input as I can get on how folks might like to see tis work. I am beginning on the plan next week. I have to try to work with them on membership fees (affordable but not ridiculous) and on how the school would work. They have a skid pad, a kart track and the large track. My idea for the school is to do it in levels. Beginners on the skid pad, move to the kart track then to the big track.

I want to also say that they currently have membership fees for the "track" and some of you have been quoted that price. I am working with them to try to figure out a middle ground for the drifters. The more people who can commit, the cheaper we can get it hopefully.

Here is the starting point. I am trying to figure out way to get this cost down. But this is a baseline to know where we stand right now. What I need to know is what do you think is reasonable? No low balling. For real prices for a world class facility. I know a lot will say this isn't the place to discuss this because no one here can afford it, blah blah blah, but I am discussing it wherever there are drifters interested in trying to make it work.

24 days on the track
$2200 initial membership fee.
$100 monthly fee
You can put your membership on hold for 60-90 days (in other words not pay the $100 if you can't afford it, but no track usage during that time)

There will be schools put together by us at Batlground, but that is a different deal entirely. We will probably offer discounts to members.

Just keep in mind that I am not sure how all of this will work in the end. I am trying to work all of that out.

Please feel free to email me with any input [email protected] . If you want to keep up with the progress of what we have going on with the track, subscribe to our blog www.batlground.com/blog

Atlanta Motorsports Park Launches “Drifting” Membership and “Drifting” School.

On Monday, August 31st, 2009, Atlanta Motorsports Park announced the “drifters” program and driving school as its newest class of membership.

Atlanta Motorsports Park incorporated a drifting circuit as part of the course design from the famed Formula One engineers at Tilke Architects. Jeremy Porter, AMP Founder and CEO, said, “we see this market as one that is emerging and one we need to focus on.” In the drift circuit “The Carousel” at Nürburgring has been mimicked using 6 degree banking in the corner. A short video (not generated by AMP) of the actual track can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0WgtttscBY. You can also view the drift section of the track at http://www.atlantamotorsportspark.net/pdf/speed.pdf

Jeremy Porter said, “I have been working with Dan Willie and Tracy Shayhorn at Batlground Motorsports Engineering to create both a membership program and drifting school that is affordable and makes sense for this market. We understand the limited budgets and we feel that we can create a membership price point that will work with this market.”

Please watch the AMP web site for details and price points regarding the drifting programs in the next 30 days.

Atlanta Motorsports Park is a private country club that offers membership for motorsports fans of all motorsports backgrounds.

I'm excited. It seems like it will be a pretty cool place. More than just a road course.

I got the e-mail from AMP last night about this, congrats to you all on a great opportunity! I think it has quite a bit of potential if marketed right, which I know you all can do!

I'm not worried about the marketing part, it's getting all of the logistics worked out. There is plenty of time for that, so not even really a big deal.

Well fine! ;)Aww. I didn't mean it like that. I just was kind of thinking "out loud". I am swamped with homework and I have so much to do. That's why I was thinking the plenty of time part. I need to stay off the forums.

Thanks for the kind words, Purp.
