I have a B16a2 with ITR pistons in it. im wondering how safe it is to put a supercharger on it and if it is safe how much boost. i dont want anything crazy. "this is Si_freak" grease was logged in and didnt know it lol.

what kind of s/c? a roots style such as a jackson? a vortech or procharger? will you be using any kind of chemical charge cooling such as meth injection? what is your budget? are you going to have the car properly tuned? is the motor healthy now? what kind of compression numbers do you have? what are your power goals? why don't you want to just use a turbo?
anything else you DON'T want to tell us? jesus christ.

isnt the compression ratio with itr pistons and b16 head a little high for forced induction?

the engine was just rebuilt from bottom to top was thinking something like jackson supercharger everything ive looked up on the net says i should be getting about 10:6 compression and yes i would get it properly tuned and as of right now no to the chemical charge. this is just an idea atm not sure if im even going to boost or not. hope that helps sorry for not giving enough info before.

i've seen people build 13.7:1 supercharged K24's. it's all about what fuel you want to use, or what method you are willing to utilize to prevent detonation.
10.6:1 isn't too high for forced induction, it's just going to make tuning all the more critical for it not to melt. Personally, if I was planning on running an eaton blower I would use methanol/water injection to cool things down a bit and keep it nice and easy to run on pump gas with a little headroom in case of a bad tank of gas. Either way I would suggest no more than roughly 8-10 psi with a good tune.

the only way i would suggest using a jackson on your setup is if you use the lht intercooler setup. iat would kill that motor over time and it would probably be a short time. use a cai too so it's not inhaling hot under-hood temps.

Compression is fine for boost, the main problem is that the ringlands on the itr pistons are fairly weak and with a SC the air charge is alot hotter. You could prob get away with something like 5psi but that will only make about 35-40whp more then what you have now.

thanks for the info, def. good things to keep in mind for future builds
