roof racks and bike racks are so obnoxious....they don't belong there, just get a damn raggidy pick up truck for recreations of the such. Or heres an idea...ride your bike where you can ride your bike, not counter productively haul it to a remote site to ride it.

Depends on your style of riding. I rode downhill, my bike weighed in at 55lbs and had almost a foot of suspension travel front and rear. Can't ride that thing around the neighborhood. Had to take it to courses in the mountains.

But I do agree. No reason to have a bike rack if A: you don't have a bike or B: you don't carry anything up there. No point. But like everything else in life, it's easier to look like you do something than to actually do it.
