This morning I was on a 2 lane road on the way to work. I was going about 5-8 over just cruising. Some guy comes speeding up on my bumper and tailgates me for a while. So I just gradually slowed down to 15 mph and stayed there till I hit Grayson Highway.

Now normally I would speed back up if they back off, but this guy didn't. So I didn't.

Needless to say, he wasn't very happy about it.

I don't understand people who brake check. I mean, I want them to be inconvenienced, not get into a wreck.

but what about the headache of worrying if he's got insurance AFTER he hits you. or the headache and stress of hoping your car is fixed back to normal, the headache of missing work over a brake check wreck. Honestly, how would that make you feel better??

Nah, you can't let 'em do that. If it's on a two lane road you speed up so they can't get by. And then when they get behind you slow down again. Unless of course it's on a road where passing is legal.

what money?? The money it takes to fix some tail lights?? If you want to claim my neck my neck shit... good luck with that. I've been in a serious accident and had to deal with surgery and PT... not worth it, man. Plus it took way to long and I didn't get a fraction of what I was expecting.

If it is on a 1 lane rd going both ways, I slow down to like nothing so they either have to slow down or go around me illegally.

On a two or more laned road, If a car is in the other lane, I will maintain the same or a similar speed as that car so the person can't get around, only if they fly up on me and ride my rear.

Honestly I would care to a certain point, depending on which car gets wrecked. These days people can't afford to drive around without insurance. As far as my car being fixed back up, I would take care of it as much as I can and if I see it's not worth fixing then I would scrap it and move on. Nothing lasts forever.

Once I slammed on the brakes to a stop, then put it in reverse...they backed up, and when I went again, they stayed FAR FAR behind LOL.

I brake check but not slam on my brakes and actually try to stop.....pretty much just to show some brake lights so they get off my shit and most of the time it works. When they dont move back I just gradually slow down w/o using brakes and go slow as shit.

If you get injured it's even more money. And I know you said you didn't get how much you were expecting but every case is different. My cousin got 5k for whiplash and a broken bumper.

If someone wants to get ugly, they can call the police and you can be charged with road rage, though. That can be a drawback of what you're saying here. Later, QD.

This is my thoughts on brake check not so hard you get hit just enough to wake them up.
