View Full Version : Was thinking 4G, now thinking SRT-4

So I have a Dodge Colt Vista. Not that I have the time nor the money at this point to overhaul it like I want to but I need to get my ideas together so I know where to go when I do get the above mentioned time and money. Here were my thoughts.

Take out the old crappy motor (don't even know what it is) and find me a nice donor 4G63-T with matching 5 spd tranny. Yay! Instant HP upgrade!

Then I got to thinking about how the DSM's are synonomous with the ever fun crankwalk. That got me thinking that Mitsu and Dodge share a lot of common bonds. Then I says to myself... why not find a decent SRT-4 engine from a Neon (perhaps one that's been smashed to pieces with an engine still in tact) and use that as the heart to the Colt. Obviously the 4G would probably bolt right in seeing as how it's technically a Mitsu anyhow but would the SRT-4 even be logical? I don't even know the hp number differences between the two but I would think the SRT-4 might be a little more fun.

Comments? Suggestions?

If it were mine i would go with the 4g63t. Only the 4gs from the 2g DSM were prone to the crankwalk, most other donor cars like the 1g dsm and evos had different blocks and are damn near bulletproof. I just couldn't see going through the trouble of fitting the 2.4l when theres such an easy and proven option.

I guess. I suppose I also wanted that "touch of unique" factor but usually, honest and true uniqueness comes with a heavy price and a lot of one-off parts. Especially in a swap setting.
