As some know Mike got another rex to get some parts off of. Those parts included a set of S2 Pro 1 cams and S2 valvetrain. Also a S2 intake manifold and TB. We also threw in some bigger injectors since he was maxed out on the stock ones.

Nah been there done that, have no desire to go back. I had more fun with stock or OEM motors anyway. I dont care to be the fastest anymore or make the most power, i just want something that is fun and hassle free. I want to jump in it and take it down the block and have it put a smile on my face.
Heres the new graph, about what i expected. After all its a UNTOUCHED STOCK ITR block and head. When i dynoed it last it made 196whp which is INSANE for a stock R motor with just a header. After adding all the cams, intake manifold, springs ,ret etc i didnt get my hopes up because there is only so much you can do with a 10.5:1 compression 1.8L.
Pretty much what i accomplished was now i can safely rev to 9500 with the PRO valvetrain. The PRO1 cams extended my powerband out about 500-600RPMs and made 3-5whp up there, and i picked up some midrange gains.
Plus IF i ever do decide to go bigger, i have everything i need to make big power.

May have to do a little better exhaust now and wait for a little dryer day. With all the rain the humitity was insane and everyone knows motors down run on water. I say 205-208 with a cooler dryer day and new exhaust. Still very impressinve for a stock internal motor.

I would have figured a little more but if it was humid and hot, that plays a big part. Why didnt you rev it out on that dyno chart? Unless....:ninja:

Torq and power was falling way off after 8600 no reason to run it to 9500 unless I'm At the track.
I think the power is good and it feels 10000 times stronger actually which was surpising, lookin at the graph I didn't think I would feel a difference. Throttle response is very nice.
Considering I've seen 2.0l with way more compression and
mods not make this power, can't ask for anything more

Awesome power though. Always wanted a B18C5 in a lightweight car!

13.5 is about right on an na motor Honda that is. Prob could run it a little richer but it made the most power there
nice power and is the interior in the rex striped or is it still full interior?

Nice! 200 whp 1.8 is good stuff. I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but why is the CF in STD? I wonder what it will make when the air is cooler. what intake are you running? Any thoughts about ITB's?
Vteckidd
08-22-2009, 01:26 PM
We always used STD prob to make us na guys feel better (tht extra 1-3 hp helps the ego lol)
intake is 3 in custom charles made, I think the motor is tapped power wise. Itbs might give me some midrange but I'd rather spend the $2000 on a 2.0l bottom end than jenveys ( only itbs i would buy)

when you're racing, i'd shift around 9200 so you'll be higher in the powerband. I love your graph. had i done such a smart build, I probably would have saved thousands of dollars! :( Anyway, I'd vote for 9500rpm when you need it. :)
cheers to the 200whp club! just show me the SAE #'s!

Considering no header has beaten my B Series yet, im pretty sure im happy with what i got.
Plus, why spend $1000-1200 for a better header when mine is making over 200whp with a stock bottom end.
Bring me another ITR in GA that makes that much power :P

haha thats Ken, we been friends a long time. I think he meant welcome to the 1.8l 200WHP club. We were all trying to get to that number years ago and spent all this money doing cams and built motors and none of us ever got there. Looks like i did this time around, and all i needed was a virgin ITR motor to do it.
