ok i got my sigma 24-70 2.8 HSM and these are completely unedited samples i took yesterday when i got it. i think unedited shows more about the lens and i would recommend this lens to anybody. well enough talking, on to the pictures.

I was just looking at one of these on Ebay. I like this price a lot better over its Nikon counterpart.

damn thats some nice glass. shots are nice and crisp and the colors really pop!
I was about to say why not buy the L glass for 200 more but... you don't shoot canon.

The Canon 17-55 f/2.8 and 24-70 f/2.8 are both 'L' lenses, so you'll spend close to $1000 each if you get the Canon brands.
The Tamron versions are both ~half that price. I have the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and will vouch for its quality. It does sometimes hunt a bit in very low light... but that is partly because I am using a Rebel

it has a plastic back and service sucks... if the lens has a problem you will have to swallow it up and buy another one because sending it back it barely an option... but if you get a good one and keep it well, it does have good optics.

I just bought my first sigma this past week. haven't taken enough photos with it to rate its performance.
Its a big sucker, though. Heavy too
