Dodge Challenger Vapor

(Article from revmods.com)
Apart from the Ford Mustang X-1, Galpin Auto Sports and the U.S. Air Force has developed another custom supercar which is based on the Dodge Challenger.

The U.S. Air Force and Galpin Auto Sports Dodge Challenger Vapor features stealth-black paint job, an exhaust system
with two mufflers for further stealth function and solid carbon fiber disc wheels at the exterior.

To access the interior, the Challenger Vapor requires biometric verification and once inside, one can see the supercar comes with a command center cockpit with three large LCD monitors and a windshield that can display the night and thermal vision.

Other features of the Dodge Challenger Vapor is that it can be remotely controlled from the Air Force’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicles system which can be accessed worldwide via the internet.

Ford Mustang X-1

(Article from revmods.com)

Galpin Auto Sports, car tuner from the US, in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force have built a custom Ford Mustang known as the Mustang X-1 for the 2009 Super Car Tour.

Inside, the U.S. Air Force and Galpin Ford Mustang X-1 features a fighter jet cockpit with a single ejector seat, a flight stick in the middle to replace the steering wheel and custom air intakes at the rear side windows that feed air to the air conditioning unit located behind the single seat.

At the exterior, the Mustang comes with new wide bodykit. The car is also fitted with a new suspension system and competition wheels and tires.

The U.S. Air Force and Galpin Auto Sports Ford Mustang X-1 is powered by the 4.6-liter normally aspirated V8, 3-valve Ford Racing heads engine to produce 500 hp.

Ugly and ricey, I don't know how they pulled off such ugliness with cars that I thought were the best looking generations to date.

since when is flat black paint... stealth paint..... ha ha ha and night and thermal vision...wtf. who comes up with this crap. both cars are useless and quite retarded. a c130 flight deck looks more high tech than this garbage. and what are those missles in the trunk or somthing.

great example of the airforce wasting money.

they should have let whoever built the two vehicles actually see a cockpit.....

You mean Galpin?

BKgen®
08-21-2009, 04:22 PM
I'm a plane nut/enthusiast, but fuck.... those are haggard. The only thing worth looking at is the interior of either one. That's really the only interesting part :2cents: A lot of the shit they put on the exterior comes off as looking like an after-thought.

ItsBlack
08-21-2009, 05:16 PM

I always took em to be the same thing. Just like in Pimp my Ride, they broght it to WCC, now they bring it to GAS which still consist of Mad Mike.

I don't actually know if they are different shops

sprix!

That Challenger is the wackness. The Mustang really isn't too bad.

Galpin has been around for ages as a ford dealer. The auto sport shop has been around for a while now too, but not as long as the dealer itself. I'm about 99% sure that Galpin didn't absorb WCC but just hired "Mad Mike" and got the sponsorship of the show. That's one of my favorite shows, even though they go overboard.

Ah, I see. And yes, I can agree they go overboard. But I'm sure its mainly for marketing. They just wanna prove they can do whatever the fuck they want to a car. TV's in the bumpers was still the craziest shit ive ever seen lol.

granted .... cool "showcars" but whats the point? Wasting our individual money on modding is fine but government money for cars that won't be used and are just going to be on display. i don't get it.
