would vtec cause a DOHC VTEC to sputter and spit when it opens up changin the airflow so suddenly into the motor. when it hits 4500 vtec hits and the mototr sputers like its starving of fuel and when it hits 6500 rpm it stops and pulls like it supposed to. any help with this would be appreciated and what PSI should i bee running my fuel at? i am running 9 lbs boost now with 55 lbs of fuel pressure . thnx guys.:police:

Maybe it needs a tune? Do you have a wideband, whats the A/F ratio?

No expert here, but to answer your question:  Like, Slomaro touch on, it sounds like you might need a tune. Most boosted honda's run Chrome, Hondata, or AEM. I don't think pushin up the fuel pressure is going to have the motor run as smoothly as it should.

I am running a chipped p28

is it a P28 with a base map on it or was it actually tuned? if it has just a base map them most likely thats ur problem, u need a tune. if its been tuned then IDK just from the info u gave

Chipped sucks. That's just someone sitting on their computer with a list of your parts, giving it their best shot in the dark.......yes some of them work. But the best way will be go to a shop and let them tune it for you.

EDIT: Also have you checked for boost leak? My buddies SRT-4 did something like this and he had blew the intercooler coupling off.

so your running 9psi with 55psi of fuel pressure on stock injectors without a tune.. if i got that right how long have you been doing this? i would stop asap and get a tune that sputter and spit thing my be a warning something serious is about to go wrong get a tune or you might find yourself takin the ankle express :D

when the vtak kicks in its prolly running lean and your experiencing "detonation". seriously dude it wont be long till you headgasket blows, bearing failure, you name it. stop spooling the turbo till you get it tuned. take it easy

It should be tuned. It could be the vtec. it could be map sensor is beyond threshold(over boosting). What ever it is you should get it on a dyno to check out the tune. Before you get it tuned though go over everything you can to make sure it is ready to be tuned. Don't want to waste time and money!

i'm going to take a stab in the dark and say it's the tune...I know that's been suggested already, but if it's just on a basemap (especially a b16 with just boost tables enabled) there is a horribly lean spot in the map between 4500 and 5700 on a stock b16 map if u were ever to look @ it.

I might be able to squeeze u in 2morrow if u want it done.

My gsr has 755cc injectors at 55 fpsi, pushin 10 1/2ibs on a chrome chipped p28. before getting tuned at mainstream,it idled crappy. Got to much fuel, now it runs hard and idles fine.
