Saving weight is always a plus and CF doesn't dent...especially when people think it's cool to test out someones suspension by pushing down on the fenders.
People should quit being pussys and paint their carbon fiber.

Agreed, I think they are more function than style. Even the crappy ones save weight over stockers.

Even the crappy ones save weight over stockers.Exactly, my reinforced fiberglass hood with a layer or two of carbon fiber on top is still 1/4 the weight of my stock one. The dry carbon fiber skin versions don't weigh but a couple pounds...but they are over a grand lol!

No they are hand made by a guy out in California. It s for a gvr4 man we have to make our own stuff! They look great though.

Good Stuff. True that, Galants rarely see mass-produced goods.
carbon fiber for the win...I have a perforated stainless steel hood on the front of my car that is even lighter then a carbon fiber hood and I just put a carbon fiber trunk on the back a few weeks ago...looks good and weight savings for the win!

I don't think its in anymore. It was in initially which was years ago. Today with prices dropped and it offered on every car, how could it be "in"?
Not to mention many times its the worst possible CF piece possible and in some cases weighs MORE than a stock aluminum hood!
Now the purist in me thinks the fad is ridiculous as it's supposed to be functional and about losing weight, not showing off. There are only a few exotics that expose all their carbon fiber and NONE just have an unpainted CF hood.
Overall, do you but I voted not in.
To each his own, I do enjoy seeing CF and I don't mind it on hoods of cars. I just don't think its "in" anymore.

I'm a fan of the CF. It sucks that ricers made it into a fad.

Having a CF hood to have a CF hood is stupid IMO. Having a CF hood to save weight is OK by me, but I am more a fan of it painted than bare nowadays.

kinda off topic, but does anyone know if they make carbon fiber toilet seats? just curious.

Thats atleast one exoticThat second one is the Linea Vincero modded by Mansory, with most of the body being bare carbon fiber. So it wouldn't count.
I don't think that first one is bare carbon fiber. Most Veyrons are all completely painted except the extremely limited Sang Noir, the blue tinted carbon fiber on the Sang Bleu, or the silver tinted carbon fiber on the Pur Sang. None are just the hood.

^ the one im getting looks similar to that, but it follows the oem hood lines of the prelude. But tis vented toward the windshield like that, my engine bay gets crazy hot, so i need some air flow.
I like carbon fiber hoods/trunks/sunroofs. But I dont like the fenders unless its on a black car.
CHADbee
08-31-2009, 11:50 AM
if it flows and weighs less than the stock pieces then yes.
aka if your car is black or you have black wheels/tinted windows so the black carbon flows with the style of the car im ok with it.
if you have a white car with silver wheels, chrome headlights, red tail lights and no tint then CF is a no go for you.

For weight reduction, yes.
For style, hell no.

After my OEM hood flew back, getting a carbon one became a good option. Plus with that and my carbon hatch, I saved 44 lbs of weight on the car.

Agreed.
Buying a CF hood for weight reduction for an S2K is a waste of money. Many CF hoods are heavier than the stock hood and only high quality dry carbon ones actually save a couple of pounds but cost like 3 grand.

I think they are in. Although some cars look 'cleaner' without. However, the car will look more aggressive with CF.
