TopSpeed Time Attack

Talladega Gran Prix (http://www.tgprace.com) - Saturday October 3rd

So you think your Fast.... Then PROVE IT!!

That’s right, no excuses. A *PROPERLY TIMED* “local” Time Attack, WITH CASH PAYOUTS. We will have AMB transponders for all Time Attack competing cars, along with Traqmate GPS Data Acquisition with in-car video for the fastest in each class.

Winners of each class will receive at least $200 in cash*

Pre-registration will be a very affordable $125 for all HPDE entrants. Those that want to compete in the Time Attack portion will have a $40 transponder rental fee. Pre-registration ends 48 hours before the event and late registration is $35 more.

There will be 5 simple classes:

Small Bore – Anything under 2.5 liters naturally aspirated (has current registration), tire tread-wear over 140.**

Street – Anything street-legal (has current registration), tire tread-wear over 140.**

Prepped – Anything street-legal (has current registration) on a DOT tire**

Race – Anything on race rubber that’s not a shop car.**

Shop Car – Anything goes. Seriously, anything.

**Anything that is obviously sponsored by a shop is considered a shop car. Even Doug’s DD street-tired ’08 STi is considered a shop car.

Spectators / car show - Don’t wanna race but wanna come watch - $10 per spectator $20 per vehicle of spectators. So if you’re broke, pile in and split the costs. (this keeps from having too many cars inside the track)

Shops – Come show what you’ve got. Shop cars not eligible for payouts, BUT, free 10x10 booth space per Time Attack entered Shop Car. Shops just wanting space and not entering can rent space – contact us for details.

Students – If there is enough interest shown with pre-registered HPDE entrants that indicate a desire for instruction, we might roll out some instructors.

Extras - We will have Brian from JRZ giving a seminar on suspension and chassis setup during lunch. We will also have Robbie Harper from Big South Series with some long-track karts on display.

*Payouts contingent on at least 5 cars in class and 30 total entered cars. Details subject to change without notice.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW, AND COMPLETE THE FORM. SOMEBODY FROM TOPSPEED WILL CONTACT YOU WITHIN 24HRS OF RECEIVING IT FOR PAYMENT.

The guys from Top Speed can correct me if Im wrong (which happens), but this is the PERFECT place for a beginner!! A controlled, safe, race-track. As some point, everyone has their first track day! This could be yours.

I have been to a couple of track days with Scott Siegel of Top Speed, and it was a class-act event. Just my experience....

If the gremlins are gone from my car, I hope to attend.

IMO, this is the best track in the southeast to learn on. There will also be instructors there giving hands to the new guys.

There are only two spots left in street and a few more than that in small bore. If you want to make sure you can run in class, please register soon. You can always run up a class, but not down.

*IT'S ON!!!*

That's right, I spoke with the track owner this evening and even though our numbers are much lower than anticipated, he's working with us to be able to run the competitive event. Just FYI, the competition insurance is nearly $1k and the required ambulance is $600. Those costs are what makes a competitive event SO much more expensive than a normal "test and tune." Anybody who's not a registered driver will have to pay the $5 gate fee.

So we will definitely be having the event and those that want to compete will have the AMB transponders there.

To rent the transponder will require the $40 transponder fee and leaving you driver's license AND a credit card with the transponder rental people.

This is great news. If you haven't paid yet, please call TopSpeed tomorrow and pay. If you were holding off registering, pre-registration will still be $30 cheaper than registering at the gate.

If you have any questions, please PM, text, or call us.

Thanks,
Siegel

This event was totally cool, well organized and super fun. I hope there will be another one soon with a few more people. If you have never tracked your car this is an awesome place to do so. I can honestly say this has become my new "drug" of choice. I think one of the problems in getting people to show up is ones lack of confidence, this track, track staff , and organizers totally welcome novice competitors as well as the guys that track a minute flat around tgpr. We need another one soon. I'm game to help, lmk.

Thanks to the track owner for giving this noob another chance to get on the track after spinning out into the grass twice in my first session. With coaching from Siegel and Sanders, they kept me off the grass the rest of the event. The hours of this event was during my normal sleep hours (I work nights) so I was pretty much laid out in my car between sessions. I did have a great time as well and will be looking forward to gaining more knowledge at this type of driving.

I was the flagger at turn 2 when you did it the second time. I was kinda sad to tell them that you spun again cause I knew once you take 4 off twice youre done. Im gad the track owners let you back out though. That would have sucked.

I had a great time too even though I worked the whole time. I DID get a lap in the hatch though, lol. Ok not a full lap but it was fun none the less.

Glad everyone had a good time. I cant wait for the next one and maybe I will have a car worthy to take out.
