Went down to Saint Simons this weekend and did some shore fishing and 1 day of fishing out on the boat. The water was a bit rough for any real good fishing but I did alright.
The shore fishing was nothing but shark after shark, every once in a while id get a sting ray but whoopty doo lol. Saturday I went out on the boat and went to what locals called the Frying Pan, its small man made island right out in the middle of the channel. The fishing was wonderful there but the water was just too rough to fish. I had 2 anchors out and i was still getting drug all over the place. For the 2 hours I did get to fish i did alright.
Here is my 2 hours worth of fishing, caught 7 flounder a good bit of whiting, 1 speckled trout, 2 im not sure what you call them I just call them squirrel fish, and i kept 2 shark to cut up some shark steaks. The baggy has Spanish mackerel fa lays in it, I had caught it on the beach with all the sharks.

salt water fishing is the best. me and my best friend would go fishing every weekend from the time we got our license at 16. its times like these that make me wish i never would of moved from miami.

The pier wasnt all that great for fishing. Saturday night I went down and asked the locals that were fishing if they were doing any good, they said that the only thing they were catching were sharks.
A few people were catching sheeps head but it was so far and few between I didnt want to take the time to catch the fiddler crabs to use as bait lol.
I was only using live shrimp, Yes it is a good bait but there are those baits that certain fish just chose over others lol. Like with flounder, they LOVE mud minnows, and with sheeps head fiddler crabs are best.
How often do you go down there QD?

We've got a house right there next to the lighthouse. There's the back porch of the house. The pier is in the background. Later, QD.

sounds like you had a blast. If your ever in savannah around this time next month i have some friends who catch those good eating whitings.
They told me that in a month they practically jump in the boat. I am looking forward to it and i dont even fish.. haha.
