My father and grandfather are both buying one this month, we're just trying to figure out how to ship them to us.
They're suprisingly cheap though, and street legal. Were just looking for somewhere to put them haha

“The maximum speed I achieved on the jet plane without a canopy glass was around two times greater than speed of sound. While on this speed I even managed to pull out my fingers in glove for an inch or two outside - it became heated very fast because of immense friction force plane undergoes with the air.“, writes the pilot.

The Russians are crazy, but the Germans are even crazier. Behold the Paris Gun:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/70/Paris_Gun.jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/Parisgun2.jpg
Check out the ^ Person standing there...
In total, about 320 to 367 shells were fired, at a maximum rate of around 20 per day. The shells killed 250 people and wounded 620, and caused considerable damage to property. The worst incident was on 29 March 1918, when a single shell hit the roof of the St-Gervais-et-St-Protais Church (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St-Gervais-et-St-Protais_Church), collapsing the entire roof on to the congregation then hearing the Good Friday service. A total of 88 people were killed and 68 were wounded.
The french thought they had been bombed by "a new type of high-altitude zeppelin, as neither the sound of an airplane nor a gun could be heard. It was the largest piece of artillery used during the war, and is considered to be a supergun"
At the start of its 170-second trajectory, each shell from the Paris Gun reached a speed of 1,600 metres per second (5,200 ft/s).
The gun itself weighed 256 tons and was mounted on a special rail-transportable carriage mounted on a prepared concrete emplacement with a turntable. It had a 28 metre (92 ft) long, 210 millimetre (8.3 in (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inch)) caliber rifled barrel, with a 6 metre (20 ft) long smoothbore extension. This barrel was placed inside a 38 cm Langer Max barrel, which in turn was placed on the carriage. The gun's barrel was braced to counteract barrel droop due to its length and weight, and vibrations while firing.
Of course NOTHING quite captures the imagination like this RUSSIAN bad boy, the EKRANOPLAN:
http://strix.org.uk/downloads/files/ekranoplan-lun.jpg
Sure it has "wings" but it does not fly. Its a 540 TON GROUND EFFECT vehicle that hovers at high speeds (400 Kmph), and can lift up to 1000 TONS. Yep, definitely Russian :D

I have been on ground when most of these American pieces have been in action. Quite impressive and the old A-10 and AC-130 have saved my ass a couple times in Afghanistan. Those and the Apache, Reaper and Predator, thankful for those for sure....off to Iraq very soon, get to see them in action yet again!!
