Infiniti (http://www.leftlanenews.com/infiniti.htm) staged an early unveiling of its 2011 M luxury sedan at the 59th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Friday evening. The redesigned model is expected to go on sale in spring 2010 in two flavors: the six-cylinder M37, and the eight-cylinder M56. This third-generation M will be the first to be sold across all of Infiniti’s 32 markets around the world, including Western Europe.

Although final specs have not been disclosed, the M56 is expected to offer more than 400 horsepower. Meanwhile, the M37 will likely have a similar horsepower figure to the G37, which delivers 330 horsepower. Despite improved performance from the new engine lineup, fuel consumption will be reduced, Infiniti says.

The exterior has a new look with a low front end and deeply sculpted fenders inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car. The interior is highlighted by better materials, an advanced climate control system, and superior audio.

The car features a number of new technologies, including a system designed to help alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in an adjacent lane during an intended lane change. In such an instance, the car will reportedly ‘help’ steer itself back into the original lane of travel.

No further details of the M have been announced, but we’ll keep you posted as new information emerges.

I'm nursing a semi...just saying. That is a BEAUTIFUL car. I posted about the Infiniti Essence Concept a while ago...I think it's one of the best looking automotive anything to come from Japan, and this looks like a more realistic four-door version of it. The back looks almost identical to the XF though...not that it's a bad thing, but I think they ran out of creativity. Either way, great work Infiniti. What do you guys think?

Just saw this up at Autoblog. I read the comments some people left, and for some reason most of them don't like it. I think this looks fantastic though.

Same thing on Left Lane...most people don't like it.

Good car overall though. It was in need of a replacement anyway.

I see a lot of Maxima in it.

If anything, this is what the new Maxima should've looked like.

I like the new Maxima except for that front end...the nose is just too flat.

As far as styling goes, try NOT to buy a nissan during the 1st 2 years. They almost ALWAYS do restyles that make the previous design look lackluster.

ie: Nissan Maxima (Front Fascia, Wheels, Spoiler option)Maxima 2004-2006 Model then see 2007-2008 Model.

Also See 2000-2001 Model - then see 2002-2003 model.

Altima 2002-2004 then 2005-2006

I have a ton of more examples in other makes as well.

That's a nice interior, I like the previous M too, I'd be happy with either I'm sure.

I think people are not liking them because of the curves. If you notice, Infiniti models are getting a lot of curves...newer G's, FX's, now M's. I personally like the new M, but the new FX looks gay.

I think the curves work really well on the G37 and the new M...the new FX looks ridiculous though. Everything looks out of proportion on it...looks like a pissed off Pokemon.

2000-2001 Nissan Altimas were of the 2nd generation Altima. 2002-2006 were 3rd generation, so of course there will be differences. I somewhat understand your point, but at the same time if someone followed that logic, he would do best to never buy a new car.

I was referring to 2000-2001 Maximas in that scenario. Look at what Nissan did with the Maxima in 2001: They released an anniversary edition with a nice lip kit, interior and black housing headlights etc. ONE YEAR LATER, 2002 they Dropped in the refined 3.5VQ and HIDs (You couldn't even buy 'em w/o xenon).

Not necessarily on the logic part, I'd still rock the hell out of a 2004 E46 M3 With Factory Wheels.

I'd still love a Charcoal Grey 05-06 SER

I don't think there are many who wouldn't roll an e46 m3. Hehe. That car is still stunning.

Nice. I may have something to switch to in a couple years. Acura has already ruined their lineup. It's either this or a 5 series, and unless BMW decides to spend some time designing an interior the M has already won.

x2 on Acura...that new look is completely retarded. I laugh everytime I see one on the road because I can't believe someone thinks it looks good.

x1,000,000 on Acura...all of their cars look fine until you get around to that big metal beak they call a "corporate grille." I think it looks awful. The previous-gen TL, TSX, and even the RL were all great looking cars. I don't know who came up with that grille and thought, "Oh yes...that looks GREAT!"

I love the last gen TL/TL-S. One of my customers had a sick ass white one that he drives. It is an 03.

Oh now I could go for this way more than the new Maxima! :D
