i saw it at 12 am in atlantic station, and i must say it was a pretty good movie. it kinda reminded me of the videogame Half-Life. a very good movie but very long movie. funny as shit too.

I seen it last night too. Good movie, A bit slow at first. But ended up really good... :goodjob:

The movie was off the chain - I love how it's a satire of how we as human beings can really be - greedy and in the end wanting to fulfill our own desires ( that was a large theme in the movie - greed/selfishness )

I can't wait for part two, they set it up perfect...

I really enjoyed it. For a $30 mil movie Peter Jackson knew he had a talented first time director in Neill Blomkamp, who he wanted to direct Halo, and he pulled it off brilliantly. This movie was so different and refreshing compared to all the shit Hollywood has been pushing out lately.

And as Stormhammer said the centralized theme of greed and the evil nature of human beings that was portrayed really grabs your attention.

Definitely a good movie. I really enjoyed it, and thought it lived up to the hype.

I'm still up in the air about this movie. Its started off very slow, without seeing previews for it I wasn't sure what i got myself into. Ended being pretty good I suppose.

Shit reminds me of cloverfield with just a different dynamic.

They are lucky they picked the number 9. It's my lucky number so I'll go see it.

I missed the showing for GI Joe so I ended up watching this. Didnt see any trailers or reviews on it. It was different, I must say lol. I don't know if it was good or bad. I think they could of used better costumes for the aliens.

It was a C movie at best. I dont understand all the "best movie ive seen in 10 years" comments. It was mediocre as far as a MOVIE is concerned.

As a social commentary it was good and different.

Nothing ground breaking though, ALien Nation did this 15 years ago

It kind of did remind me of Cloverfield. It was good, but no damn 8.9/10, #35 of the top 250 movies on IMDB...

It started off very slow and I was about to walk out after 15 min into it.

I stayed and it turned out to be an ok movie...7/10

It was definitely interesting and I wondered where the plot was going the whole time...but in the end I feel like I wanted more....

it was pretty good film, i love it was in SA as i will be there next summer, but...

i love the narrative beginning like documentary then it turns into a movie. these reality feel to films is cool but if not executed well it = fail. i would give it 7/10

Completely agree with vteckidd, movie was mediocre. The plot was good as far as the theme and lessons. Also agree with gixxerdk about the costumes. They lookd like big roaches. All n all the movie was ok but not the best out. Mayb a 6.5/10

It was pretty good, but from the sound of it, most of you guys are being paid to promote it. It was good, but not great.

If you wait to see it on DVD, you won't be missing much.

Oh, also, that part in the previews where the alien says "why wont you let us leave"? isn't even in the movie....

very good movie. awesome action scenes, very good special effects. but i do think it was lacking a backstory a bit. i would have liked to know more about the aliens. why they came and what happened to them..etc

I really enjoyed this movie.
Thought it was great.

I wouldn't mind seeing it again in theaters.

At the second half I had no idea what was going to happen to the main character. I liked that. Always kept me guessing.

this might come as a shock to you, but other ppl have different taste than you. It was a great movie especially for a new director and with the limited budget

the movie was pretty good, saw it last night... the ending was a tad slow IMO

One question I had was if these aliens had the intelligence for intergalactic transportation, wouldn't they have known how to assimilate into the human population and/or learn how society is working instead of being a group of parasitic cattle lol. If an alien could cobble up a powerful bomb casually, couldn't he have been able to free his malnourished ass aliens from the ship in the first place?

If the aliens were so smart with their technology, couldn't they have devised a better more efficient way to find/extract their "fluid" than digging through trash?

Interesting movie though, just fundamentally flawed IMO.

I'm sure district 10 will be good too, The guy living among the population of prawns, mofo comes back from wherever the fuck he went for 3 years and declares war on the humans for their experiments? Or does he come back to clean up/ remove aliens? awesome set up for the sequel.

some questions:... when the smart alien was talking to his kid he said that "its too late to leave now, we've been here too long" etc etc...

why did that small space ship fall out of the big one? what was the purpose?

If you remember correctly, they said in the movie that one theory was that all the leaders or captains had died off, so only the simple workers and grunts were left. So without someone to guide them and order them around they were just going to rot away inside the ship.

If an alien could cobble up a powerful bomb casually, couldn't he have been able to free his malnourished ass aliens from the ship in the first place?

Casually? it took him 20 years :) maybe Christopher wasn't a Leader or Captain but like just a driver. So he didnt have the ability to get everyone to follow his orders.

If the aliens were so smart with their technology, couldn't they have devised a better more efficient way to find/extract their "fluid" than digging through trash?

Maybe since they travel such vast distances they had to make a fuel that could occupy a very tiny amount of space and weight.

some questions:... when the smart alien was talking to his kid he said that "its too late to leave now, we've been here too long" etc etc...

I dunno on this one though... Maybe hes being negative because of all the other events that had happened

why did that small space ship fall out of the big one? what was the purpose?
I'm thinking because he knew they were out of fuel and knew that one day he would have to fly back up to the ship to get back home to call for reinforcements/help

I love to analyze this kinda stuff.

Fucking amazing. It's like a modern day Bladerunner. They don't make movies like this anymore... These days, everything coming out of Hollywood is shitty remake upon remake of old movies/tv show adaptations. District 9 is how it's done.

i'm talking about the super bomb he whipped up while the MNU was chasing them, lol it took him all of 17 seconds to make that shit lol.

Maybe since they travel such vast distances they had to make a fuel that could occupy a very tiny amount of space and weight.
Nah, this fluid was shit that they had traces of in, in all of their alien machinery.... so they dug around for alien looking shit and got the few drops of that black alien semen shit

I'm thinking because he knew they were out of fuel and knew that one day he would have to fly back up to the ship to get back home to call....

maybe that shit was intentional man, watch on the sequel, who knows... that was just phase 1 of their 40 year human holocaust campaign
