Ok, so does anyone know what companies make the solid chrome rims? I've seen them on a couple VDubs and a civic hatch or two. I'm looking for a pic now.

These aren't actually solid, but they would look like this when the car isn't moving...

These look close, but its a bad angle:

Ok I found the name of some while floating through the VW thread, Work Leadsleds. But I definitely can't afford $2500+ for some rims... Any cheaper versions/knockoffs?

I looked into getting some a while ago for my scion xb and I found a hand full, they all were hella expencive. I can get you some names if your interested though.

Similar wheel covers used to be popular back in the old school hot rod days. They called them dog dish / moon dish wheels. Wierd to see them make a comeback. A lot of land speed record peeps run similar. The chrome is a new twist though, they use aluminium to save weight.

Yeah I've seen similar on older VW Bugs and stuff. But they're solid hubcaps on steelies.

Awesome thanks. Now those Rays covers, do they only go on those specific rims, or are they fairly universal?

Memoryfab.com and RBmotoring.com usually carry used sleds that can be had for about half the cost of new ones depending on the specs.

What are you wanting to put these on? .....not the Miata ....right?

roche
08-14-2009, 04:10 PM
Lol actually yes...
I wanted a look very similar to that red Miata up top.
Even though the ones on that one aren't solid.

to each his own. I'd personally like to se you shove a V8 in there and run some 17" Enki RPF1's on it. But if you can pull it off and make it look good I wont hate on ya :D http://blog.autospeed.com/static/images/articles/i29/2959_4mg.jpg

V8 will be way down the road haha...

And while i like RPF1's on the car, I feel like a ton of other people have them.
