Please Help

Ok here is the deal. My friend has a 2004 mazda 6 with the bose stereo system. He has the pac oem 1 line output converter. we hooked that up. and ran the remote wire to the sub from the orange accessory wire coming out of the headunit. when we hooked it all up the sub didnt work. also now the lights on the radio dash do not come on and the radio with not come on either. i did not cut the orange wire i used one of the blue connectors that has one wire running straight through it and the loose wire as well in it crimped together. i am thinking a fuse might have blown but i replaced the audio fuse. idk if it could be the orange accesorry wire. please help any input is appreciated.

check all of your fuses...could be the radio, illumination fuse, bose amp fuse...take a multimeter and test all of your fuses. I guarantee you blew one somewhere, and then you need to check your connections and retrace the remote wire to make sure it is not grounding out anywhere.

i put my multimeter in 20m ohms and tested the fuses and they all rea between 2 - 4 ohms.. so i dont think the fuses are bad. and i took off the remote wire now and put everything back to the way it is factory and it still doesnt work. i am really stuck here.do you think i should cut the orange wire and try and twist and tape it back together?

First of all, don't twist and tape anything.

Don't read ohms on the fuse please......use voltage. You obviously blew a fuse. Does your domelight come on?

yes the domelights still work.. ok and if i dont use ohms how should i test the fuses with the multimeter?

turn it to voltage???

Turn the key on, put one lead on ground, and then test each side of the fuse to make sure it passing 12V through the fuse.

I've seen plenty of fuses "partially" blow that still look good, but do not pass voltage.

so when i place the positive lead on each one what should the reading be? 12v? and i do this with the fuse in the car correct?

Yep in the 12V range. Any huge drop or zero voltage on one side of the fuse and it is blown.

ok.. there isnt really a good spot to check it though while its in the car.. the leads on the top are small as hell

That's how they all are. Do you have pointed leads on your meter? Just hold one on ground, then the other on one side of the fuse...look at the voltage...repeat on the other side of the fuse and then compare.

12V - 12V is good
12V - 0V is bad
0V - 0V is normal (not all fuses are on all the time...only when they are needed)

ok here is the update i have replaced the audio fuse in the main fuse box in the engine bay. i have replaced the MIRROR fuse on the kickpanel b/c it said it had to do with audio as well. i have checked the relay. and still the radio does not work and the lights for the redio dash do not come on. everything else in the car works lights power seats power mirrors wipers everything.. where do i go from here?

start testing the wiring behind the radio, and test the remote wire @ the amp for voltage.

Look up the wiring colors for your radio and test the +12V wire, the accessory wire, remote turn on wire etc...gotta find something out of the ordinary and then trace it from there.

I'm pretty positive it is a fuse, and it is not necessarily and "audio" fuse. The lights on the radio and the power itself are not all on the same fuse. I've had things in a system not work because random fuses like the domelight, and wiper fuses were blown. TEST EVERYTHING. Something is blown.

could something as simple as a domelight fuse be blown even if the domelights ane everything are still working?

well no, more than likely not. If it's working, it's not blown.

ok.. i took a test light and tested all the fuses in the car everyone.. and none of them are blown.. could it possibly be that the headunit is just fried?

um an orange wire is the illumination wire on those hu
your looking for a blue or a blue and white wire. In fact i'd look just for an ignition lead. you wont have lights on the hu because you cut the wire that feeds the power to the hu for lights....
