Ok so this happened about two weeks ago on a sat. night... Me and a buddy of mine were going to the local car hangout(barrett). So we got on the highway and as soon as I get over into the fast lane I see this mustang come flyin up on me... I didn't think nothing of it, so I passed a couple of cars and got over for him to pass me... Well when I got over he pulled up next to me and just stayed there, while trying to get me to race him... First off im not the type to just not race someone, I don't care what car it is, i dont mind loosing at all.... So I hear him drop into 4th, so I droped into 4th as well.... So he hit it and I looked down and we weren't goin that fast so I went to 3rd and we stayed right next to each other for a good 10-12 sec. until I came up on a truck(don't know mph)... So me and my buddy just looked at each other like WTF? I just figured he'd walk me.... So i got behind him in the fast lane and we passed the semi-truck and then I got next to him again and now I had to convince him to race me, cause he didn't want to again... So after riding next to him for awhile I hear him drop 4th, so we slowed down to like 50-55mph. I hear him drop into 3rd this time, as I did too, and I honked 3 times... So we took off both in 3rd this time and from about 55-105 he got me by about 2 maybe 3 cars... I was pretty happy just a stock :cry: (SOHC)F22b1, with intake, exhaust, and a VAFC:cheers:..... Idk what was done to the 5.0 it was pretty nice(white) and all I know is it had exhaust and 5 speed..... I thought a 5.0 would have beat the single cam a little better, idk what do u guys think?????

yeah older 5.0's if they are on stock gears just make alot of noise after 85mph....good run for a SOHC

Stock 5.0's make very little power until the later models but then they didn't make that much.

yeah 87-88 didnt have maf i dont believe(dont quote me on it) they had dense air or someting then in 89 they swapped to maf and mine with exhaust and underdrive pullies should have been in the 13s but due to traction issuses ran 14s at the track...on the street though it was stout... but there are still slow ones we bet one in a 1500 silverado from a dig one night quite funny...good job :goodjob:

You should boost, it's a crazy difference. At 8psi i doubled my hp.

well, when you're only running about 110whp to start with....

Yes as far as the size of each company's 5.0, no as to them being similar. The 302 is built much differently than the 305 and has a lot more potential. The 305 is basically a truck motor with good low end torque, but no high RPM horsepower, and it revs about 2 grand lower than a 302 does.

Yeah those mustangs of those years including the Cobra's, are all slow. But several of my neighbors have very mean ones, low 11 sec cars at the track, but down the road they all got destroyed by turbo 4 bangers from around here.

my buddys got a 5.0 makin around 375 on motor. it's pretty stout.... but theres a guy on the other side of town with a 91 that has a built 598 c.i. motor in it with the 5.0 emblems still on it and i think it makes bout 9?? on motor and 13?? on spray. i think i heard he was on passtime. like a week or 2 ago.

Often times companies will put a "name" on a size of a motor, but it isn't always the most accurate. This is one example.

GM used the 5.7L V8 for decades. It was always a 350ci motor. But when the LS1 came out, the displacement actually went down to 346ci.....however, it was still called a 5.7L.

My motor is peculiar in that it's the exact opposite. Mine is a 7.0L, which comes out to 428ci. However, since GM was known for its 427 motor, they just CALL the LS7 a 427 (even in the car's literature), even though it actually IS a 428.

5.0 mustangs are 301.59 if you want to be technical. appearantly 302 was a more attractive badge than 301.59.

They are slow stock, but you are hard pressed to find to many stock foxs. And you want to talk about a slow car, lets talk about any NA (5.0 & 4.6 not motor swaps) SN95 but I'm bias so what do I know.

sn95 is the slowest generation of mustangs... excluding the "king cobra" days ofcourse. Most ford people do not claim those to be mustangs.

I dont really understand the logic behind saying SN95s are slow without boost... had you of attached that to the 4.6s i could maybe see where you are coming from. Sn95 is basically the same platform as a fox... actually... the mustang platform has pretty much been the exact same for most of its production. The only reason Sn95s are slower stock.. is because theyre more equipt cars... bigger... 4 wheel disc brakes, heavier than foxbodies and the 4.6 engine has less of an aftermarket than a 5.0 and its also a more intimidating engine to build. I see what you were getting at.... but it was a little off.
