what makes a car look ricey

there are certain things i like about cars and then there i things i consider (and are obviously) over the top...now i bought a 94 civic that came with an all around kit with side skirts and rear bumper bonded on...i think it looks nice...but i don't want to be called nor would like the idea of being a ricer.
note i bought it for $1500

"fucking ricer piece of shit" ,
"another damn civic retard" ,
"looks alright" ,or

i am liking it...i mean i'm not going to change it...but i just like to hear wut everyone else has to say...as far as cosmetic..only thing i'm going to do with it is fix the breaks in the kit...and come up with a paint design...partictularly sticking with black

actually i think the valve cover was a junkyard part that the previous owner picked up in hopes to make it look better or wut not...eventually i'll repaint it to get rid of the paint chipping and make it look simple (not glossy) of course after i clean the engine and bay

I'm all about doing things yourself though. I painted this car in my back yard with a 40 year old air compressor and 25 year old spray gun.

It's too subjective to come up with a general qualification for "rice"...but as for that car, I think it looks pretty good...though it really needs a clean-up. I've never found those types of tail-lights to look good on anything, but it's a minor thing that can be changed.

I personally like a car thats clean, and aggressive w/o a loud bodykit, but u jus need to clean this car up a bit, and it will b fine. As long as its clean....

Ridiculous low-offset wheels.

Tow hooks on car that have never needed to be pulled.

Stuffed animals hanging from under the rear bumper.

Unclipped zip-ties holding various body panels.

Tinted taillights.


Avoid any of these things and you'll be fine. Good luck with the clean-up.

rice is pretty much someone who tries to make their car look like a import/formula/flashy car and completely fails....
