idk about you, but to me i find it somewhat odd that on ebay, they have the shiny pretty looking turbo manifold selling for much cheaper than the cast-iron manifold...and since the parts are supposed to last forever according to the purpose of the build, which is a daily driven turbo honda, which manifold would some of YOU all choose, and why? It seems to me that the cast iron manifold would absolutely last forever, and even be able to withstand higher boost pressures than the second one. But still, im not sure. So here it is:

Either....

Exhibit A - the 'good ole' cast-iron "like stock", upgraded log?

or...

Exhibit B - the "ebay special", super-shiny, header-like turbo exhaust manifold?

Never tried niether one but I picked B. If it breaks, re-weld it.

i have two of the second one. and i heard that u should strengthen the welds on the wastegate flange

option 1. I've got a InlinePro cast manifold for a b series for sale. $200 lmk

go with the inlinepro cast mani. you can port it if you want it to flow a bit better, but for a daily that will handle shit tons of abuse for YEARS, go cast! :)

Slow_hatch, I may buy it if the op doesn't.

LOL next question, should i even order either one of these from ebay and expect them to be at least somewhat reliable in the first place? Im kinda looking for a customer review type thing to give me a better idea on the product quality, but i know how IA can be sometimes...:gay: lol.

Having had a ebay manifold, homemade mild steel log, and the inlinepro, there is no way I'd go the cheap route again. The inlinepro you slap on and forget about it. And people make LOTS of power with it.

I ran one of the cast "drag" manifolds for a while and they are absolutely rock solid. Not as pretty as the tubular, but if you have modest power goals they will suit your needs just fine.

The cheap ass shiny egay ones basically have to be re-welded if you want them to last for just a decent amount of time. And even with the reinforcements, Iv seen them fall apart.

I have a blox castiron mani. The bitch seems to be industuctable. And its pretty efficient.

Yea, everyone else pretty much sumed it up. Buddies of mine have ran the ebay tubular manifolds, and have bought, welded, and reinforced, only to have to them brake. Cast is the way 2 go.

Yea, unless you can afford a quality tubular one I'd just stick with a good cast one. You don't want your turbo falling off driving 70mph down the highway :D

 lol SURE i do!

haha jk...

it seems like everyone on here who has commented about the ebay manifolds have only talked about the second one with the tubular stainless steel. I've already decided that im not going to get that one, because i read a nice stickied article on team-integra that said even the high quality stainless ones dont last as long. So, what about the ebay cast-iron one? is it a cheap piece just like the other one, or could it have some potential to it?

I have the rev hard cast iron and it's taken so much abuse. I think the others are just a little bit more show

I have had the Rev Hard cast manifold for almost 5 years and havent had a single problem, not the nicest lookin thing but it works great.

Eh, from my understanding they use the same mold, but a lower quality material. I'd go name brand since it isnt much more money. People have been using the revhard and inline pro manifolds for a long time with no problems. Having done both routes, I'd choose not to skimp out on this part. I'd buy a quality turbo, wastegate, and manifold along with good tuning. Everything else you can get by using cheaper parts.

A- a cast manifold will hardly ever break and it actually will help spool some.

Option B will not only break but the design will make it boost creep also.

lol

you posted one good manifold (1) and one shitty manifold (2) .. so it's really like no brainer

i haqve one of teh second one on my gsr and ive had to replace the wastegate mount completely because the metal is a cheap carbon steel and is very prone to heat warp and flex and the pipe will break and the two stabilizing braces are no good i fixed mine with a piece of exhaust adapter from auto zone which joins two pices of pipe together and rewelded the wastegate flange on it then welded it to the manifold so far no problems since i redid the wastegate and it boostin better to.:police:

factory turbo manifolds are cast for a reason. Easier to produce and last forever (with the dsm manifolds being the exception:D)

the cheap ebay tubular's are not even stainless steel....... they are coated steel thin wall mani folds being 18 guage (regular header grade steel). i have cut one up and the sparks from the grinding wheel shoot orange like steel not white like stainless.... plus they are magnetic......

cast for the win

SOME stainless steel actually is magnetic, but its probably not the case with ebay stuff, I just know when i worked at a machine shop, there where diff grades, some magnetic , most not

Why is this even a question? Buy the e-Bay one and hope you are the one exception to the rule. Because to you, obviously looks are more important for when you go to BP.
