Just a question, not sure if anyone else has asked, since i have not read the only
thing,When is B.G. going to get this new ride??

Sorry if it has been asked, I've checked back in here a few times, and have seen
any updates!!

Yea. It's a long thread. I mentioned somewhere that we are trying to find one at a good price (Vette), but people are still out of their minds with the way the economy is and the problems with GM. They are still priced like it's 2006 and the C6 just came out. We don't want to make a bad investment and pay way too much. Dan looks everyday for the right one....which basically means crashed or flooded since we would just tear it apart first thing anyways. Doesn't make sense to buy one at full price.

That and we have the 350 with the LS6 going on right now. We can really only afford one project at a time, so Dan started the 350 while we were looking for the Vette.

Who knows. It may be never in all actuality. When we made this thread, we were ready and then realized the prices were way high. So, if Dan never feels comfortable with the prices, we will never get one :)

id like to see BG's hands on a mazda.. a 20B rx8 would begreat on a million levels... or a 20b miata!

i think they scared!

No thanks. I don't think Dan is scared. I just don't want one.

I think you need to build a Boosted 4 runner.....like MY Boosted 4Runner. You can make it mack daddy and then give it back to me. You know, for like a TV show or something. All for friendships sake :)

I say take my second gen 4runner swap the 4.0 v6 from the fourth gen and supercharge it. People love to do swaps in these anyways. Take away the hard part of my trophy truck build. :goodjob:

you guys don't know me...yet...:ninja:

But I choose the IS-F based on the fact that this is a COMPLETELY new engine and a fairly recent platform...

-Factory bad-assery is there
-Would be a nice upgrade to your past cars
-lightning fast paddle shift is something new to play with
-bump the compression a little (maybe leave it the same and fortify it) and throw 15lbs at it thru a rotrex supercharger
-has "new clientele but keep the faithful fans" written all over it

keeps stealth, clean looks, etc. super dope wheels and subtle aero, better suspension, etc...and get rid of the God-awful bumper exhaust tips...lol

Here's a comparo with my favorite car... (not on your list)

Hey everyone,

IF YOU VOTE PLEASE POST WHY YOU MADE THE CHOICE IN THIS THREAD.

So with all of my depriciating assets (cars) getting sold recently we are now looking for a new project car.

We want something that can do all of these things well. I would want at least 1000 hp in the new car. I also would want the best bang for the $$$$$$$$ spent. So getting a Viper ACR and putting twin turbos on it probibly would not be the best bang for the buck. We want big power and not a lot of spool so a 2 liter wont do it. I would say 2.7 liters at a minimum (example: Subaru stroker, lol, 1000 hp in a Subaru :lmfao: ). Just kidding, no 4 cylinders this time, 6 cylinder is the minimum.

Standing mile
Roll on race
Drag race
Time attack
Drift, not totally necessary since we already have 2 drift cars.

i voted c6 z06. here's my reason

r35 gtr: no. why? its just the new fad and everyone is jumping on board. soon to be too common.
r34 gtr: no. why? all your big name shops (ie: top secret, jun, etc) have already built it with big power. again, too common.
z06: yes. why? bang for the buck. there's a TON you can do with the ls7 engine. everything from n/a to big boost is achievable in this facory race car that can still remain streetable
new ctsv: it was really a tie, imo, btw this and the z06. main reason is big power is easily attained AND nobody has done one yet (to my knowledge). either one would be cool, but i feel the z06 is more of a hardcore racer.
gt500: less bang for teh buck. much heavier than the c6 from the get go. already boosted to get some good power, not much room for improvement.
viper acr: amazing car! however, bang for the buck when it comes to modifying isnt there. HELLA EXPENSIVE!
g8: i love the cars, but they're also too heavy to be a true competitor as a race car. they do make good power tho.
sc300: maybe. while not as common as the gtr's, its often not respected as a true race car. dont get me wrong, big power can be made, as you guys already know what to do with a 2jzgte. thats a fact.
ISF: do you really want to start out with well over $300k just for the car? hella dope car, but no where near what i would consider building. also due to low numbers, that bitch would be staying 100% stock if it were in my hands lol.

the c6 z06 or the viper.. why the ACR though? Why not just get an SRT-10 Coupe and build that? That's a lot more cost effective. If you do the srt-10coupe then definitely the viper!

Not much room for improvement? Hardly, Livernois Motorsports got 900rwhp out of a 500 with a twin turbo setup on stock internals and block.

But I can agree the weight distrubution in the 500 is weird as hell.

please do the g8

Here's the problem with that car, in a few years, it's not going to be shit b/c there will be no parts for it.

I believe any GM car will be pointless to build b/c there are SOOO many LS platforms that so many shops are building.

Either way, all of our cars have seen the 1/4 mile track, so that is nothing new...you can go ahead and assume you will see our next car there, too. As far as the independent dyno, maybe not. Too much of a hassle when we have one at our own shop, but you never know.

guilty conscience? :D

i always recommend an independent dyno test when claiming whp numbers solely due to the fact that numbers can be fudged and having similar numbers on different dynamometers lends credence to the vendor claims. :) but, a 1/4 mile trap time is actually a better indicator of whp...

I agree for the most part (aside from th fact that you will most likely get a different number from dyno to dyno regardless), but like you said, the track is the best test of hp #'s, and like I said, all of our cars have seen the track at least once—except for my drift car.

it's a given that you will get different numbers from dyno to dyno... depending on whether or not one is load based (mustang dyno, dyno-dynamics) vs. inertia based (dynojet) but with proper calibration and strapping the number should be very similar...within reason.

i voted R35 because it is a relatively new platform where typical power-adders do not work as planned... depending upon what your whp goals are, you may find yourself struggling and inept... :) this is one reason why i love the R35...it doesn't give it up easily...

if you can prove yourself with this new technology, then you are on top of your game...

The r35 is too much price point to hack on. An r35 needs wheels, suspension, audio and a boost controller IMO. Leave it as it sits for as long as the warranty lasts. You can save money by choosing a diff platform and ALSO outperform the r35 easily at a fraction of the pricepoint.

i completely disagree. $80k is a great price point to work on. much less than its supercar counterparts. and why would an R35 need a boost controller? absolutely no need unless you are utilizing aftermarket actuators and wanting 600+whp... btw, changing boost levels on the car voids the warranty...so, that sort of kills leaving the warranty intact until it's over...

one other thought, for under $4k you can make the R35 a low 10 second car even though it's not even designed for the straight track...

gotcha. so, the learning curve comes at the customer's expense and not the shop's? hmmm...not sure if i would want to go down that road as a client. :lmfao:

keep in mind that a used 09 GT-R can be had for roughly the same cost as a good Z06. i've seen them go for a low as 65k.

You're new to this site and I have no idea what you know about us, but if you are really interested, you can feel free to check out our website www.batlground.com or stop by on our Toys for Tots dyno day coming up on Dec. 19th. details in my sig.

1st let's say that, unfortunately, we cannot own every single car that we are capable of working on. I wish we had it like that—but to answer your question, no the "learning curve" does not come at the customers expense. Just the car. That's what I was getting at. Our learning curve comes at our own expense in most cases. That being said, there are plenty of times where the customer will pay for R&D for a crazy project and that is always discussed with them and agreed upon upfront. We are pretty transparent and have no problem admitting when we haven't done something before. Additionally, just because we haven't done it, doesn't mean we can't. That has been proved on more than one occasion.

2nd, an '06 Z06 (the first year of the new body style) has been going for around $40-48k+, not $65k (That is as of the last time I checked around a few weeks ago). We happen to be getting an '07 for $40k because one of our friends can't afford his payments anymore. Lucky me.

3rd, we have not had the opportunity to work on an R35 yet.

Thanks for your interest and input.

wow. way too defensive. i was being facetious; not desparaging.

i did check out your site. there was little to no information as all pages basically state to check back later... at least, this is what i found with the 'projects' page where one would expect to learn more about the competency and prior builds of a tuning shop.

thank you for the invitation to the Toys for Tots Dyno Day. if weather permits, i may very well take you up on the invitation. seems it's for a good cause.

on a side note, your website is incompatible with IE8... not sure if you were aware and wanted to be helpful. :)

I am not trying to be defensive, but the internet doesn't lend itself to tone of voice and sarcasm and I don't know you like that. Personally, I try to be clear that I am joking with people I don't know on the internet for that reason.

Thanks for the info. as far as the IE8 is concerned. I am currently back in school for advertising and I just redid our website about 2 months ago. I am very much a noob at designing sites and have to work on it in between classes and TV shows we have been filming non-stop since. I am having trouble with the flash image viewer I created to embed on the projects page (the only unfinished page. Murphy's Law). You can feel free to check out the gallery http://batlground.com/gallery/ where you can find a lot of projects from our old site. I haven't updated the gallery in about 2 years because I haven't worked at the shop daily in that time span, but I am slowly working on getting it all back up to par. You can also check out the blog for some of our recent updates. My apologies for referring you to an unfinished site.

maybe you should try working in something like Joomla. much easier medium to work in as a self-proclaimed 'noob', but certainly challenging enough to give you great experience with site development.

not a bad idea, but as you can see, it's difficult to build a website from scratch code...especially when the site will be an ongoing project. though, i will say you didn't do too shabby of a job. :) i'm a geek by trade, but i do not deal well with programming...i'm a network/security/windoze guy. i get severely peeved when trying to script something...

hmmm...are butt secks and bewbs a common topic on IA? not that i am opposed to bewbs or...*ahem* anal lovin'...but, i prefer to have a more mature conversations. and i'm more of a gentleman than that. those topics are best reserved for at least our third encounter. ;)

not a bad idea, but as you can see, it's difficult to build a website from scratch code...especially when the site will be an ongoing project. though, i will say you didn't do too shabby of a job. :) i'm a geek by trade, but i do not deal well with programming...i'm a network/security/windoze guy. i get severely peeved when trying to script something...

hmmm...are butt secks and bewbs a common topic on IA? not that i am opposed to bewbs or...*ahem* anal lovin'...but, i prefer to have a more mature conversations. and i'm more of a gentleman than that. those topics are best reserved for at least our third encounter. ;)

btw, you do know the stigma of corvette drivers, no? is it mid-life crisis time for Ms. Tracy?I love geeks! My man is an engineering grad from GA Tech. See? We might just get a long after all. :idb:

And yes, those 2 topics are rampant on IA. Might I suggest you never venture to the Whorehouse if you are one for mature conversations!!! As far as the mid-life crisis goes, it could be true, but let's break it down—currently the average life expectancy is 81 (iirc) and if you are 40 or younger it goes up to around 100. That would leave me 10 maybe even 20 years until I am actually at mid-life. That's what I tell myself anyways—that and mid-life crisis are only for men :tongue1:

Nice to meet ya. Hope to see ya around sometime.

P.S. The GTR looks like a RX-8 and 350Z bumped uglies :D (that's a joke since emoticons don't work all that well apparently).

ok. so, maybe it's your pre-mid-life crisis? or maybe you just want the "old man with trophy girl" stigma attached to you for some ungodly reason? i don't know you well enough...yet...to answer that question. but, i am on the case! ;)

about that...i think the GT-R looks like an EVO X and a corvette had a bastard child.. see how subjective opinions are? :)

I say find yourself a 2.8 Turbo V6 Saab to tune. Hear me out. This would be mostly to tune the engine and not really the car. These engines are capable of a lot of power and now GM has basically used that Saab knowledge to put this engine in all it's top of the line models. The new Buick Regal GS is going to get this engine.

The turbo V6 is going to be the next performance based engine because it's a small package and generally gets better gas mileage than a V8 and simple things like adjusting boost can provide different power levels. In stock form these engines make 250hp/258lb.-ft. and with a simple ECU tune they produce 320hp/400lb-ft. and that's with swapping zero parts, not even spark plugs. GM is already using this engine in the Opel Insignia OPC and in stock form it's making 325hp/295lb.-ft. With a compressor wheel upgrade and spark plugs they make about 390hp. Just imagine what you can get out of the thing if you put a larger turbo in, a larger downpipe, and,ore efficient intercooler.

EDIT: I know you guys hate FWD and they are also available in AWD format with the newest Haldex system with an eLSD.

So, I voted you do a GTR.

Then I realized, about 10 minutes into doing ANYTHING to that car you'll be calling Forged and asking how its done.

BWAHHAHAHAHA.

Good luck.

CTS-V.... hook it up, then sale it to me at a good price.... the wife needs something fast :)

on a side note do you all have all the stuff to tune GM cars now? If so i might have to bring the tank down... 01 burb 2500, has a 8.1L with a cam, headers, exhaust, whipple, spings and all the other shit you need..

Id like to turn off all the torque management crap. ( i have a file on how to do but no program to do it lol) then get it tuned in for the blower / cam and shit.... hp will not be to impressive, maybe 500 crank.. but should be able to make 900-1000 lbtq... or just blow the hell up.

I say if you want a motor that size and 1000 hp and it do all things well and best bang for the buck, the only car that comes to mind is an r32 GTR.....you can get them fairly cheap and they have GREAT potential and are a great car and always will be, and lets face it, a GTR is a GTR, I dont care how old it is, and I LOVE the old school look anyways.....GL with whatever you decide, im sure I will be jealous of any car you create....Dan
