Nick wanted the exhaust to exit out of the front bumper....anyone who knows these year model Preludes knows this is near impossible without tubing the front end....but we did it and strengthened the car in the end as well.

can someone essprain the strain gauge on the shifter?

Evil Goat
08-19-2009, 11:31 AM
the easy explanation....

it measures the pull or push on the shifter and in combination with the ppg transmission allows clutchless shifting

so he'll push the clutch in to go into first, let out when he launches, and will be able to flat shift clutchless with 0 issues from there on out

Bad ass car, by the way, why such a heavy platform? any way it is going to be a bad ass fast car good luck!

I recomend you to get more protection arround the driver rollcage wise, if you understand, cuz it is going to be a fast car trust me i bet this will do more than 135 at the 1/4 mile traps!

we will have to actually add weight to the car to compete in the class nick wants to compete in, so weight isn't an issue, as it sits its a tick under 2400lbs

the car will trap well over 135....and the cage will be updated as soon as it does, this project has taken on many stages and this isn't the final one

remember, this isn't our first rodeo :D

I'm just saying the hood would have been a much better choice. I'm not saying it looks better but it would function better. I just wouldnt want that much heat on my tires (yes I know with the flow of the exhaust, it'll be pushed away from the tire)

I liked the headlights. They looked like real bixenon projectors. Just didn't care for them being blacked out.

-Ant.

There wont be any extra heat on the tire the way it is designed. I used the same set up on my Hot Rod and the tires would be the same temp after a run. There were several design decisions made on the exhaust and this is what we came up with. It will definately work better than through the hood in this application. I am going to bed, going to be an early day.

The headlights are dope, correct me if im wrong but it looks like there is NOTHING behind them, so it looks like some plastic with some tint to them.

Exhaust is pretty cool, different. I think this is a purpose built drag car so you can get creative and do stuff that normally wouldnt work on a street car.

Looks good, very nice presentation

ill try to filter in updates as they come along...

i don't have any info on the boost levels for any pulls....i just know they are adding boost as they go....hopefully the clutch will hold, the guys may have to stop by Competition on the way home and pick up a new unit so we can get it installed and some shakedown passes done tomorrow

1st pull = 150hp
2nd pull = 320hp
3rd pull = 480hp

Sorry double post. I'm on my cell. Ed is one of the best tuners in Ga.can't go wrong having him tune it

i know how that is....Ed is definitely one of the best in Georgia, if not the southeast or further!

last pull....having some issues with the digital six that will be fixed asap and the cams were setup incorrectly by whoever assembled the motor

536hp/353tq @ 22psi

car is on its way back to the shop, the minor issues will be fixed before tomorrow night and nick will be making some shakedown passes on this tune friday and should be competing saturday at the dohc event we're putting on

cams will be degreed in next week, and if all goes well will be making the trip back to balanced to finish the full tune, the goal is 850 on the horsepower side, and Ed believes that and more is reachable with ease :goodjob:

Should do good. At this level we can get all the small stuff dialed in so the car and the driver are ready for the big time!

Glad to see it reach this point.

Finally made it to the track, we wanted to see what we needed to change, what the car liked etc..
First shakedown, I lined up without a burnout and alot of air in the tires, I pulled a 1.6 60 ft With only 2psi set to build on antilag.
Next run nocked off my alternator belt and lost power. We put it back on and went again. I launched a bent a radius rod which caused me to cut a slick, night over... JJSPEC had nothing to do with the fabracation of the radius rod, someone else did it a long time ago as a favor for me.. JJSPEC is replacing the rods now with cromoly, i'm sure that will fix it... I do need to thank Jimmy Jones for all the help at the shop, he took off work to go with me to the dyno, and for all the great track support..

Negative ghost rider. It wasn't when he was doing his burnout, IIRC. I remember seeing sparks up under the car once he shifted into second on his last run.

jnv255
08-24-2009, 08:10 PM
im not sure if it did it then or not, i wanted to think the wheel was to the left just before the run. It might had bent even more when we it sparked, i think it hit my pulley and caused the spark
It does kinda look like its making a mark on the tire during the burnout

Thanks for the pics, next time we go, i should have all my shit together. I really need some seat time, my driving skills are nothing like they were, ill get it..

Turbo got some debris in it and locked up, having to get it rebuilt.. First pull made 500 on 18psi and it was very rich, cut the car off, went to do another pull and no boost. We thought maybe an intercooler pipe was loose, got to looking and didn't see anything, checked to see if we could spin the turbine, it didn't move at all...

Thanks to everyone at JJSPEC, they stayed late last night and was at the shop to meet me at 5:00am so I could load the car, thanks Keari and Quick for helping me load and unload everything...
Maybe next time everything will work out.
