OmG i cant believe my car failed the emissions test today for the 8th time Idk what is wrong with my car, its completely stock and its a 1990 civic with the stock engine and stock ecu. It doesnt even have an intake, and there is no CEL on. I just had the oil changed on it, and an extensive tune up done with full coolant service too. It didnt overheat on the machine. Anyways, heres the results.:(

25/25 Test Reading----------Allowed
HC ppm----999--------------147 Fail
CO %------100.0-------------0.82 Fail
NOx ppm---8000------------1072 Fail
RPM--------750------------3000 Max
CO+CO2----87.63-----------6.00 Min

50/15 Test Reading---------Allowed
HC ppm----800--------------152 Fail
CO %------99.99-------------0.85 Fail
NOx ppm---5000------------1186 Fail
RPM--------780-----------3000 Max
CO+CO2----29.63-----------6.00 Min

Oh yeah, did i forget to mention the car also has a test pipe on it? I thought it was supposed to increese exhaust phlow to add horsepowahhh and give a better emissions reading.

You are half right  A test pipe does increase flow but at the exemption of filtering any type of "smoke/co2/etc". When you bought the test pipe it should have said for off road use only.

the Fix: simply replace your test pipe with the OEM catalytic converter. Hopeful people don't come in hear flaming a you. Another reason why more people back out the "scene". We all have to learn somewhere. If you still don't understand what the cat is for just Google it. All it does is convert the Co2 into another form i forget what it is. Hope this helps

I would sure hope so. If not, then at least he has the info to get that "fixed" if it still doesn't pass. Then like everyone else suggested sell that.

You guys are killing me. It is clearly a joke. If he had the presence of mind to mention it has a test pipe he has to be aware that that is why it is failing. ;)
